No wonder I don't remember the Lions ever being 9-3.
Yes, that was the Billy Simms years. My uncle told me that he remembered them going 4-0 and a Detroit radio Station used to play queen’s “another one bites the dust” after each win.
Then they lost 7 of the next 10 to end up at 7-7, and someone made a parody “another one beats our butts”
Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. The take was in 1980 when they started 4-0. Billy Simms was a rookie on the team. Wish I could find the video of it, but so far no luck.Nah, that was the Dexter Bussey years. Sims played after the NFL went to a 16 game schedule.

They finished 9-7 after winning the last 2 games of the season.Well, if it was 1980 no one finished 7-7. I looked it up. They went 9-7 and missed the playoffs after starting 4-0. They won those first four games by 13 points or more, too.
I remember two games from that season: Sims running wild on the Rams in his first game, and the Bears beating them on Thanksgiving by returning the kickoff back to start overtime.
They finished 9-7 after winning the last 2 games of the season.
Started 4-0 but then skidded to a 7-7 record
Yes I did not mention the final record since they kind of regained some competency the last 2 games.Don't mess with an old man's brain. I saw 7-7 in the first post and I remember 14-game NFL seasons, and Dexter Bussey.
