Desmond Howard (traitor and whiny btch)

I'd like to comment on Kirk Herbstreit's job on Gameday. He has maintained a very objective, unbiased commentary that is filled with color and *god forbid* relative to the game currently being telecasted. This was highlighted by his Post-Game interview with TS last saturday.

I find it hilarious that his beloved Wolverines killed Notre Dame, yet in the USC-ND game, he chose ND!!!! Could that have been a homer prediction?!?! I think so! Now had the tables been turned and Ohio State were fighting for a NC spot, he would say USC wins no doubt about it... He's the biggest homer I've ever seen and THE biggest idiot on ESPN (yes, he beats out Mark May!!!)

holtz is a bingo champion talking about football. His days have been over

As much as I can't stand Desmond, I like him on the set of GameDay. You know what did if for me? The Michigan State/Notre Dame game. After the game was over, instead of gushing over Weis' genious and miraculous comeback victory, he ripped Michigan State. Hell, he ripped them so bad it was funny. He said, and I'm paraphrasing here, "I never thought the game was over. Why? Because it's Michigan State. When Notre Dame came back, I thought, 'That's why you're Michigan State.'"

Classic stuff.

Desmond Howard just said on the halftime show of TCU-NIU that the early bowl game he is most looking forward to is the Holiday Bowl because he wants to see the matchup between Thorpe Award winner Aaron Ross of Texas and DeSean Jackson of Cal.

Uh, Earth to Desmond: the Holiday Bowl is Texas A&M against Cal, not Texas against Cal. Then again, that's not a fact we'd expect a legitimate college football analyst to know or anything. :roll1:

He also just said that without Troy Smith OSU wouldn't stand a chance in the NC. I think thats a little extreme.

Howard could be the worst college football "analyst" I've ever watched. Take just about any starting QB off a team and the team would lose an extra 2-3 games a year I'd imagine. Add in the fact that the QB is a Heisman Trophy winner and that estimate becomes even more probable. I say this not to simply validate what Howard said, but to point out that what he said would apply to just about every Division I-A football team, every year. He's making such an obvious observation that he is adding nothing to the halftime show. His statement is the equivalent of saying something like, "If team A turns the ball over 5 times this weekend and its opponent doesn't turn the ball over at all, team A is likely to lose." I cannot believe ESPN gives Howard face time on any of its shows.

Not only is it a captain-of-the-obvious statement, but given our situation at QB -- it's one that might not even apply.
I don't know if we'd win, but I'm pretty sure we'd be very much in the game running Pittman and Wells 30 times and Zwick throwing for just under 200 yards.
Zwick is no Dick or green freshman (Mustain) or RB-who-played-QB-in-HS (McFadden). And they were able to keep it close for most of the game without a defense. Zwick is a reliable college QB whose won us a bowl game in the past. Call me crazy, but I still see us getting in the endzone 3-4 times and eating a lock of clock in the process.

Well, what do you expect from Dipshit Howard? With Pitt and Wells in the backfield, and Ginn, Gonzo, and Robiskie at WR, I think we'd still move the ball pretty well. Of course, not nearly as well as with Troy, but it's not like we'd get totally shut down...

The really bad part is he was saying Texas vs Cal in the pre game Bowl season special as well. He must have said it 3 different times.

How do you get a job as an analyst if you don't even know the names of the 2 goddamn teams playing the game your analyzing?
