Some of you should take a step back and realize your strong emotions are about college kids and a football team. I'm just as invested in this team as everyone here but damn, at what point do you stop? I'd like to see Braxton Miller in there as much as anyone else on this board but it's not enough to cause me to make smart ass comments at Joe Bauserman's expense. The coaches want to win as much as anyone and their not purposely trying to have an awful offense. If Joe's in there, so be it. You can disagree, you can be pissed off, but mocking him and the coaches for their decisions is fucking garbage.
There's been a lot of bashing of players and coaches that have gone unpunished but if that shit continues well into the week like it appears it will, I'll give myself a 14 day ban so I don't have to read that shit.

Agree.

I think the player bashing has gone far enough. Hell, I'm staring at a bold notice stating I get to leave for 14 days if I do it. Not sure why it has gotten so lenient around here.

Obviously we're all disappointed with how the team has played compared to our expectations. Some players are more responsible than others for this. Some members of the coaching staff are more culpible than others. But at some point we have to step back and realize these are college kids, being directed by a first time coach, and they are trying to win. They are trying to do what they can to win games and be competitive. This team has been through a ton and it is time we stop being victims and realize how we feel has to be completely insignificant when compared to how they must feel. If it isn't getting kicked around for being slow or legacy style football, it is for cheating or being unethical. They lost a tremendous coach and mentor, one that they truly admired and looked up to. They lost their offensive leader. Nobody could have predicted, between the scUM game last year and now, all that has transpired.

Time to back off. They are working hard, they are trying to win, and if they come up short you need to have faith that we will get better and this is all just going to make our program stronger.

I'm curious to see some examples. We also do have a "Report Post" function.

I don't really think comments to the effect that Joe Bauserman is not a competent D1A QB constitute "bashing."

At some point, after the bird quacks his way down the street, you need to be able to call it a duck.

I see a difference between being critical of someone's play and posting that "we're fucked" by having Joe Bauserman as our quarterback.

If we lack a competent D1A QB, we're [censored]ed. So I guess I don't really see the difference.

That being the case, though, I intend to go to the 'Shoe and cheer loudly for the Buckeyes on Saturday, regardless of who is at QB. I'd never boo a player. (But if Joe B is in there, I'll gnash my teeth and look forward to his holding a clipboard for the remaining series.)

Agreed. This player bashing retort is getting a bit stale. It's obviously wrong to flat out say that someone sucks, but it's equally as wrong to just bash anyone who questions decisions by a coach or player in a game. As long as people stay within the parameters on both ends I think it's a healthy discussion. Maybe we should start a vent thread. So, the people who are frustrated can go there and vent (not bashing anyone, obviously) and the people who don't like that kind of thing can simply not click on the thread. These guys (player/coaches) knew what they were getting in to by coming to Ohio State. Growing up in Columbus and being a Buckeye his whole life, Fickell should know this more than anyone on that staff. It's a huge stage, the microscope is equally as big. There are a lot of good head coaches that would get chewed up and spit out by the position he's in. Spare me the "Bauserman/Fickell are a victim of suspension....ect." Obviously that is a legit reason for a team to have struggles, but going back to being at Ohio State.......you had better be ready when your name is called, because if you are not there is someone out there that will be.

I'd love to put faith in things getting better, but I just don't see it right now. It seems like there has been regression for three consecutive weeks to start the season. That is a direct reflection of many variables that factor into the team. I get that there have been suspensions and Tress is gone, but at some point you've got to stop making excuses, take off your scarlet glasses, and come to realize that maybe some big changes need to be made.

I don't want to get in to semantics and I'm not really the type to report a post.

I just see some black and white in the grey area of what has been said in this thread and others.

...strange approach imo. You felt secure enough to critique the site as "lenient" yet deny any opportunity to assist the moderation.

Not really. Would you call the police if you saw someone urinating on the side of the highway?

We'll assume not. Now would you do it if you saw someone murdered on the side of the highway?

Even though both may be uncomfortable to me, there is obviously a consideration for severity on whether I feel it appropriate to "assist the moderation."

And it isn't my rule, but I perceive the enforcement of it as lenient compared to others. I just think you've attached a 2 week ban to it so you've made it fairly difficult to enforce. Nobody would get speeding tickets if it meant two weeks in jail--whether they were going 10 over or 25.

We're getting off topic, we can discuss privately if necessary.
