Dennis 'Dillweed' Dodd

Well, everyone is getting on the Ohio State bandwagon. The arrival of a certain young man in our backfield and the Texas unsettlement at the quarterback position seems to be tipping things in our favor.

There is an argument that one doesn't want to be #1 to start the year because of the pressure. But I am of the opinion that the pressure is always there anyway when you are Ohio State and Tressel-coached teams are playing to win the national championship every year anyway. So, the counter-argument of trying to get past a West Virginia (who plays such an easy schedule) or a Notre Dame (who could "almost win" -- or should I rather say "lose well" -- three games and still be #1.

Now the team has to prove it deserves the attention. I think we can count on Coach Tressel to keep their heads in the right space to do that.

I'm all for being #1. I think it makes a difference in recruiting, especially out-of-state.

Spare me the show. Dodd overstepped his bounds here.

Oh please, he overstepped nothing, but as usual, we fans immediately look for sour grapes. He's pushing the cause that the NCAA has some serious flaws in its system with one of hundreds of obvious cases. Nothing new there...

I agree. I doubt that Dodd has some hidden agenda in any way.

His agenda is not hidden in the least. He hopes that people will send this family money knowing full well there are NCAA implications for doing so. It's easy to gamble with somebody else's money. It's a noble gesture, and it comes at a potential cost.

Conspiracy theory......

The man states that it could be a potential NCAA violation. Brings up the Clemson case, in what seems to be an attempt to show the people a way to go about it WITHOUT an NCAA violation. Oh, and doesn't give out the address.

What else do you want? How else would you want him to shine a light on a problem and try to help out a family in need?

Jeez, what did Dodd do to you anyway?

Conspiracy theory? LOL!!! As far as the noble Dodd not giving out the address:

Either way, the money problems won't end. Juan has student loans. His mother says she took out a loan for $55,000.

That's why I won't publish the address. It would do more harm than good to two wonderful people. That hurts me. It should hurt you.

That doesn't preclude a group of industrious college football fans from getting Yamileth's address on their own. Believe me, it's not that hard. What's to keep them from making an anonymous donation?

He's provided everything but the numbers, street, and zip code. Anonymous donation? LOL!!! Tell you what. Let Clarity write and publish a piece as Dodd did and see how long it would take for the OSU Athletic Dept to pay him a cyber visit. But hey, everything is okay in Dodd's world as long as he is playing with house money.

Clarity runs an Ohio State webiste, and you are comparing that to Dodd?

Keep reaching.

The bottom line is he made is more than clear that it would be an NCAA violation if the wrong people tried to help. MORE THAN CLEAR.

He just seemed like he was trying to help. In that process he seemed to bunch your panties or kick sand in the region those panties cover.

Let's see, I don't believe he ever purchased a ticket to an athletic event at OSU. He did not attend classes at OSU. Exactly how is he a booster? By operating a website with Ohio State in the name?

He also made clear that there should be anonymous donations - MORE THAN CLEAR. That door swings both ways.

I mentioned Clarity running an Ohio State website because that would raise a red flag, nothing more. Oh, and you dont get in trouble for "anonymous donations" .....especially when you aren't associated with the university (which he made clear not to be).

For the sake of not derailing this thread any further, you belive what you want. I'm not in the business of continuing to argue with people about opinions. I've made my point clear and I'll just sit back and see how many share your sentiments.........

Uh, I think you'd better read the disclaimer at the base of the site home page:

the Ohio State University's Athletic Department, Ohio State fans in general, or BuckeyePlanet as a whole.

Uh, I'm fully aware it isn't affiliated with Ohio State University. Merely saying him running a website about Ohio State would raise a red flag compared to others (specifically Dodd).
