I hate to make this post, but we did want the longtime BP guys to know, Deety (Sharon) passed away last week.

Sharon was a driving force at BuckeyePlanet...and usually behind the scenes because she would refuse all credit. Clarity can attest to the hours she spent on the tech end of this site.

She was a calming presence on the site, but passionate about her beliefs. Always open to discussion and compromise, but her foundation never wavered.

The early days of BP were truly a family of people who mostly never met. Social media has put some faces to names, but for the most part we are a family of strangers...but it worked and worked well.

Deety was the glue for all of that.

RIP Sharon. Thank you for your friendship. Hopefully you are surrounded by toasters and kittens.

Life is different than it was 30 years ago. People you have never met face to face become as familiar to you through message board interactions as your close friends. I may not have known her but i interacted with her regularly on this board since I joined in 2004. After 17 years I will miss her greatly and am saddened to learn she has passed.

I’ll have more to say in the scUM thread…

Like most, my interactions with Deety were entirely within the confines of BP. She was one of a kind and was always helpful and sweet and would listen to me when I had a (usually dumb) question.

Thank you Deety for being a friend, such as it was. And thank Woody that we were able to know her in whatever capacity we did. She made the BP experience that much better. RIP Deety.

Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

Simply awful news.

Also, I would like to unsubscribe from sad @Deety facts.

Awww, man. She was always so fun and pleasant. I'd noticed her absence around here for sometime now and always wondered what happened...as we often do when long time, regular posters seem to drift away. Very sad. RIP, Sharon.
