You're fucking kidding, right?Apache;1052902; said:Coach Paterno has done so many great things for this university as a coach and as a man. However, now the question is, "What have you done for me lately?"
Sadly, being competitive, solid, running a clean program and being fundamentally sound is not good enough anymore. Many want headlines no matter what the story really is. The next time I hear someone like Jay Mariotti slam Coach Paterno, I may get on a plane and punch his light out. Those morons are more interested in making news and being controversial than reporting the news.
I am a supporter of Coach Paterno and I can remember his sitting down with me years ago at a football clinic and talking philosophy and strategy for over an hour. He didn't have to do that. But he cared enough about a young coach (at that time) to guide and help him along.
Joe Pa will know himself when he can no longer guide this program. Perhaps it is that time, but it is not my place or anyone outside of that administration to make that call.
But I must say: GO BUCKS:osu:
Source: 3 Penn State players booted
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Three Penn State football players charged in connection with a campus fight last fall have been kicked off the team, at least temporarily, a person familiar with the players' status said Friday.
Defensive tackle Chris Baker and linebacker Navorro Bowman are awaiting trial on felony assault and other charges related to a fight in October at the campus student union.
Cornerback Knowledge Timmons was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and defiant trespass stemming from an incident after the fight.
The three players are no longer with the team, though it's possible they could return to the squad, said the person familiar with the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject.
In a statement, the school said: "Three members of the squad have been excused from the team."

Paterno may have choice to make, too
If Pryor picks Lions, coach's reputation for loyalty will be tested

When coveted football recruit Terrelle Pryor finally decides on a school, and if he happens to choose Penn State, it could accelerate the end of coach Joe Paterno's legendary career at Happy Valley. Pryor's presence at Penn State, while partisans would be overjoyed, could well be cause for much consternation and be the litmus test for Paterno's well-deserved reputation as a fierce loyalist.
At age 81, Paterno may well be placed in a position where the coach will find it almost impossible to win -- hearts, not necessarily games, although he needs both these days.
Pryor, as you know by now, is a 6-6, 225-pound quarterback phenom many scouts insist is cut from the same run-pass mold as Randall Cunningham and Vincent Young. His talents are the ideal fit for the popular and successful spread offense.
Pryor's presence at Penn State would force Paterno and his coaching staff to make serious decisions at the ultra-important quarterback position in 2008, given the returnees.
The obvious questions are these:
Does he repay backup quarterback-in-waiting Daryll Clark for sitting patiently the past two seasons behind overmatched and scatter-armed Anthony Morelli, a guy who thought "pocket presence" meant possessing a money clip?
Does he repay passer-in-waiting Pat Devlin, who reneged on a verbal commitment to Miami to join the Nittany Lions, by giving him a legitimate chance this spring and fall to win the starting job?
Does he redshirt Pryor, America's No. 1 recruit, who almost certainly would be a freshman starter if he chose Michigan?
Does he use a two-QB system with Pryor and/or Clark and Devlin, much like Urban Meyer did at Florida with Chris Leak and Tim Tebow to win a national championship?
Does he simply name the multitalented Pryor the starter and let the chips -- and loyalty -- fall where they may with Clark and Devlin?
Regardless of what avenue Paterno chooses, it almost certainly will aggravate 50 percent or more of the fan base at a time when the coach, angling for more time beyond the 2008 season, needs all the support he can muster.

Like seemingly everything else in CFB today, even Joe Pa's future and his integrity is being tied to TP's choice. Say what you will about the guy, but, like Lllloyd, it's quite an absurd stretch to try and cast his integrity into doubt. The guy finished earning his stripes a long time ago.
I call BS...
