Decanonized Mythologized Disgraced Ped State Monster Coach Joe Paterno (Zombie Icon)

Today is the day where he can bounce around like a lunatic trying to pump everyone up at the pep rally.

I'm sure we'll see it about 1,000 times on ESPN from when it happens to before/during the game.

Those are the moments when you get a glimpse into how far gone the old bastard really is. Remember the year he was crying at the pep rally about being so sick of everyone trashing the kids, then goes off on some jag about his old man being a fighter? They had to translate it for you and it was so far out of left field it was scary.

My grandmother is in a home down here and she'll do stuff like that over and over. I really didn't notice Paterno was senile untill I spent more time around her, now I honestly see him do stuff all the time that other senile old people do.

Ohio State vs. Penn State
At age 80, Paterno still Lions' king

Joe Paterno said part of the reason for his longevity is that Penn State has resisted pressure from boosters to make a change when the team slipped.

When Joe Paterno got a call late last winter, he asked his wife who was on the phone.
"She said it was the Minnesota coach," Paterno recalled. "And I said, 'Glen?' "
No, it wasn't Glen Mason. He had been fired a month earlier. The caller was Mason's successor, Tim Brewster.
Before the laughs kick in about the 80-year-old Paterno having trouble remembering names, think about this: Since Penn State entered the Big Ten in 1993, there have been 29 coaches at the other 10 schools, and each of the 10 has changed coaches at least once.

Looks like the mess of all the white strands from the pom-poms was handled by hired help, rather than the Nit team.

JoePa: Players done cleaning stadium

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Their bodies were sore and their egos were bruised after an embarrassing loss to No. 1 Ohio State, but at least the Penn State Nittany Lions got to sleep in after a home game for the first time this season.

Coach Joe Paterno believes his squad has learned enough of a lesson off the field that the Nittany Lions no longer have stadium cleanup duty.

An angry JoePa over the summer ordered the entire team to pick up trash in the student section on Sunday mornings at Beaver Stadium afer several players were implicated in an off-campus fight in April.

That chore apparently ended after the fifth home game of the year, the Oct. 13 win over Wisconsin. The Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-3 Big Ten) were back to their regular Sunday routines this week after the 37-17 loss to the Buckeyes.

"I didn't do that necessarily to punish them. I did that because I felt they ought to have some idea that as a team there's got to be somebody saying, 'Hey, no, we don't want to do that,"' Paterno said Tuesday. "I really wanted them to appreciate the fact that they have the best of all worlds. They've got a free education, people who know who they are."

Joe Paterno has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know.

That wasn't a compliment.

One thing he has apparently forgotten about is Penn State's record against OSU and TSUN in the Big 10.

From the continued blood-letting on FOS
.

I had the opportunity to ask Joe last night about his assessment of what the team needs to do to more consistent about competing in the B10. When I told him we were 8-20 against OSU and Mich he didn't believe me. Also I stated that all roads seem to go through Ohio State and Michigan to win the B10. He also contradicted that. I was just shaking my head. He at least admitted there are things that need to be done differently with player personnel. We'll see. All the other questions were the usual rah rah. Sometimes I wonder.

Paterno wrote memo after fight
Report: Penn State coach outlined discipline plans

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- When Penn State football players were accused of being involved in an off-campus fight last spring, coach Joe Paterno wrote a memo to university president Graham Spanier saying some players would be have their playing time reduced and roster positions changed, a newspaper reported.

Some of those players have seen significant action this season.

The May 7 memo said the punishment would be meted out regardless of what actions were taken by authorities or the university's judicial affairs office over the April 1 fight, the Centre Daily Times reported in Monday's editions.

Spanier told the newspaper he viewed Paterno's memo as a courtesy, and that he did not perceive the document as a binding statement.

"The letter from the coach reflects a singular moment in time and looks at the case on that one day in May without the benefit of everything that occurred afterward," university vice president Bill Mahon wrote Monday in an e-mail to The Associated Press. "There was nothing binding about his note."

I know we've been saying it for years, but I truly believe Paterno will hang up his whistle this year.

I watch him on the sidelines and I'm not sure he even knows where the hell he is half the time. I keep waiting for him to ask a ref when his table will be ready.

If the administration truly knows what's best for the Nittany Lions, they will ask Joe to step aside and allow them to bring in a new regime.

His players are out of control.
