Tyquan Lewis Sitting Out Spring After Playing Entire Last Season With Shoulder Injury
When the 2015 football season began everyone knew who defensive end Joey Bosa was.
It wasn't quite the same for the other starting defensive end, Tyquan Lewis.
Lewis backed up Steve Miller in 2014 but won the starting role in 2015. All he did was finish the season sixth on the team in tackles, first on the team in sacks with 8.5, and second on the team in tackles for loss with 14.
Lewis had a great first season as a starter, which is made more remarkable by the fact that he played the entire season with a serious injury.
Lewis told reporters on Thursday that he underwent surgery in January to repair a torn labrum as well as to repair some bone injuries in his shoulder. He sustained the injury in spring drills last year but played the entire season before having surgery.
"It was just some shoulder problems, my labrum and some bone stuff," Lewis said matter of factually.
"I was in rehab every day (during the season). I was just grinding it out."
