DE Tyquan Lewis (Indianapolis Colts)

Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Tyquan Lewis suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to head coach Frank Reich, via to Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star. The injury occurred Sunday during Indianapolis’ loss to the Tennessee Titans. A second-round pick coming out of Ohio State in the 2018 NFL Draft, Lewis totaled a career-high 24 tackles, eight of which were for loss and four sacks over the 2020 season.

To this point in the 2021 season, though, Lewis was on track to surpass those numbers. In eight games, Lewis had 14 tackles, three of which were for loss, and 2.5 sacks on the season this year. He had a season-high five tackles and 1.5 sacks on October 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.

“Really unfortunate,” Reich said.. “He was really playing well yesterday.”

Indianapolis Colts DL, ex-Ohio State star Tyquan Lewis suffers season-ending injury, per report

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Tyquan Lewis suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to Ian Rapoport.

The former Ohio State product suffered the injury during the team's 17-16 loss Sunday to the Washington Commanders.

Lewis re-signed with Indianapolis this offseason on a one-year, $3 million deal. Lewis was previously on a four-year $4.36 million rookie contract that he signed after the Colts selected him in the second round after trading up in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Lewis hoped to see an increased role with the team this fall, but only had 8 total tackles with one sack and an interception before going down this season. He entered the 2022 season with 56 total tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, five passes defended and one interception. The injury bug struck Lewis as a rookie, when he played in only eight games largely to a toe injury that placed him on injured reserve in the middle of the season. Injuries then came again for Lewis in 2021, as he was on injured reserve last year after a season-ending knee injury suffered in Week 8 of the season.
