DE Solomon Thomas (official thread)

Interesting tonight to watch the East vs West Lakota Derby. Thomas is certainly getting good playing time this year. His fellow DE Grant Hunter has garnered much praise from coach Larry Cox - Hunter has netted 5 sacks on the season. Cox was on the radio last night talking about opposing teams focus on Thomas helps let Hunter roam more freely on the pass rush.

Thomas had a rough year. Only recieved 2nd Team all GMC, and netted only 1 sack. He had ankle trouble and had to sit out two games during the middle of the season. Grant Hunter, the weak-side DE, ended up recieving 1st Team all GMC.

Thomas appears to be a great player, but he's got a few things to work on. He needs to figure out how to use his speed as a weapon, which he doesn't. I think he'll fit in fine at OSU if he signs, but I don't see him playing DE up there.

Just curious where you see him playing?

Is everyone sure Thomas still has an offer? I only say this because of his struggles this season on the field, his test score uncertainty, and the increasing amount of top prospects wanting to get into our class... we only have so many ships and since Thomas still hasnt verbaled I just wonder if he could get left out...

That is a valid question, but the hold up has been his test score. From my understanding, the on-field performance issue was due to teams simply running away from him and the lack of adjustments, such as those used with Ben Martin, to put him in a position to be most effective.

I can't say he is still a top target...but it would not surprise me either way.
