DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

It's hard to imagine either Rose or Heyward sticking at DE... their size probably won't allow it... But then u look at things, and u see we got all four DTs back next year.. so where is the room at DT for Rose or Heyward??

Heyward is a monster at DE...no way we move him. Rob is still a very good DE, just not quite as quick as he was before...hell, he's about 300 pounds now, at 6'5". With his huge size and quickness, he'd be a great DT...

1) While Heyward has played very well.. I wouldnt say he's destroying the opposition.. He makes a few plays a game where u see pure strength and say "wow, he crushed that linemen", but in the entire scheme of the game I dont see Cam being a dominant player right now

2) The main argument behind my point, is that Cam is a true frosh and already built like a monster.. He's gonna mature, and mature a lot between now and next year.. He's likely gonna be 290-300 pounds by this time next season.. It's hard to play D-end at that weight

Most guys that "mature" add muscle, but also lose some fat. There is no reason at this point to think that a decision will be madem vased solely on his physicals, to move him down. If the staff determines that it would help the team, however (we've seen Peterson, Scott, and Worthington being moved before) then that's where he'llgo.

Cam's also athletic enough to drop into coverage as noted by this past week and the devastating hit he laid on that MSU receiver. He's got Will Smith type ability all over him. Will he eventually be as good? Who knows at this point, but considering he's a freshman who makes few mistakes from his side such as not losing containment, not allowing the backs to get loose in his gaps and he pressures the QB, I'd say leave him be and try others at the DT position.

BTW, I don't think we have any kind of problem at all at DT. There are some injuries and that will happen, but the depth at DE is slightly less when everyone is healthy. Remember we also have some LB'ers that could play the Leo possibly if need be and the DT recruits coming in are outstanding.

Defensive end Robert Rose saw limited action last weekend while nursing an injury. Tressel did not seem optimistic about his return to action this week.

"Rob Rose is probably a little bit limited like he was last week, and it's probably not the style of game that you wanted to be limited at that position," said Tressel.
