DE Robert Rose (Official Thread)

Getting some serious love after his AA performance

From CNNSI.com, Jamie Newberg's Top 5 DE's.

5. Robert Rose
Committed to Ohio State
Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville
6-4 / 240 / 4.7
The first thing that jumps out at you is Rose's size: He's long and lean, and will get much bigger after he gets to Columbus. He's extremely athletic, and with hard work can become an outstanding player at the next level. Rose is so quick off the ball and has exceptional strength at this stage of his career. He had 17 sacks as a senior at Glenville.

I love rose, and think he's good enough to contribute right away. Whether or not he will is another question. Wilson, Patterson, Richardson, Gholston will be tough to replace. Barrow is also in the mix.

He's never been a five-star on Scout. The highest he's ever been was #52 (2 spots away from a 5*).

He was a 5-star on one of those sites for a couple days...there has been a lot of shifting of rankings over the last few days.

EDIT: Found it. Per posts #325 and #329 of this thread, he was ranked #17 overall and a 5-star by Rivals last week (Jan 19th).

Rose certainly was impressive in the Army game, although it is hard to evaluate when playing an OLineman with an arm cast. But, his bull rush was impressive and he reminded me of Lawrence Wilson in the Big 33 (which I got to see in Vegas, believe it or not.) But, I notice on these younger bull rushers that typically they full straight ahead, on a string if you will. Presumably good coaching will refine their ability to vary the line and not get run around by a shifty QB so much.

Go Bucks!
