ORLANDO, Fla.- Almost every high school football player on any top 100 recruiting list in the country has a choice to make before heading off to college: Under Armour or U.S. Army?
There are two elite high school football all-star games on the national stage. Each basically invites the same top 50 players in the land. No matter which one they pick, they can?t lose. Both pay all expenses for the participant and some for their family to join them.
The U.S. Army contest in Texas is the elder statesman of the duo, having been played for more than 12 years. But Under Armour?s All-American Florida contest has been rapidly gaining popularity since its inception five years ago.
The reasons are obvious, said Bishop McDevitt head coach Jeff Weachter, part of the 2012 Under Armour coaching staff in Orlando.
?When you get here, it?s just pure class. Every little detail they have covered,? he said this week. ?Then you get a chance to be around some of the NFL, college and high school coaches, and you can tell it?s just another level.?
