DE Nick Bosa (Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

For a guy that's going to be a professional football player, the only reason to go to class is if he is a scholar (in terms of interest, not intellect).

He has no incentive whatsoever to go to those classes. He needs to focus on rehab, and he's more than earned the right to have access to all of Ohio State's resources to that end.

There will be plenty of time to finish his degree after football is done. For now, it is worth it on a number of levels to jettison those classes, not the least of which is that it is a huge campus and just getting around that campus with a rehabbing injury is a risk... a small one in terms of probability perhaps, but a multi-million dollar one in terms of consequence.

Not really surprised, he has to do what he feels is in the best interest of his long term (financial) future.

As they say in football (i.e. when you lose a player).....

You'd have to pay the players a hell of a lot to make that a factor in a situation like this.
Right. I still think this whole mess can be solved by letting players make money off of their likeness and generally take money from whoever is offering. No reason a player like Nick or Dwyane shouldn't be able to take money from boosters, sign an endorsement deal, or sign autographs for cash. It's not going to skew competitive balance further than it already is right now.

Not to derail this too much, but I agree with this even though it's a messy, messy solution. I'd rather the university give full scholarships and better facilities to lesser sports than worry about paying football/basketball player money.
