DE Nick Bosa (Pro Bowl, All Pro, 2019 ROY, 2022 DPOY, San Francisco 49ers)

Quite frankly if college football continues pretending like “It’s for the kids!!”, and not the cutthroat business it is, any surefire first rounder should sit and refuse to play their junior year. It’s why I had ZERO problems with Ward sitting last year and if Haskins was a cant miss Top 10 pick, I’d tell him to sit his ass down too. Asking kids to risk their livelihoods for “The Brotherhood” or whatever popular marketing slogan is nonsense.

I can't blame him at all. But it could be tough to draft him in his projected top 3 picks with such a small body of work. Sure he has his workouts where he'll have the chance to wow, but other than that, really a minimal amount to justify being taken so high. At least in my opinion.
Playing in 27 games at OSU is not that small a body of work in my IMO: 17.5 sacks, 29.0 TfL, B1G D-lineman of the year, and oh yeah, he's a virtual clone of another guy who had 23 sacks in his first 2 NFL seasons. There may be some lingering injury concern, but there's still enough there to justify a high 1st round pick.

I think we're gonna see this more and more with top prospects. Sucks for fans of the college game, but we're talking millions and millions of dollars. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.
Yeah... if you’re consensus top 10 pick going into your 3rd season... why give NFL more tap.. why not sit out... this will likely spur the pay the players debate...

I dont blame nick...kinda wish he would stay enrolled so he doesn’t ding our APR or whatever its called

First year he was played sparingly due to the ACL and then his sophomore season he rotated a ton... we really didnt get to see much of him at all. Generational talent and we barely got to see him. Just sucks for everyone!

Lets see though what happens... if we can find a way into the playoffs maybe that's just too much for him to pass up. Not likely but that's possible.

Edited: NVM he's withdrawing from school so it's over.

That is 100% my sentiments. Likely one of the most dominant and talented players we have ever had in Columbus, and we barely got to see him. Aside from what his contributions would have been in getting to the playoffs and beyond, he was just fun to watch. Really sucks to see this.

On withdrawing from school, I do wonder why he needed to make that decision at this stage though? Why not just prepare for the draft and stay in school with the idea that he will not be playing the rest of the year, but leave coming back a possibility based on how the season/rehab is going? I'm sure that reason will come out but it just seems premature to already make the decision...I really don't see how he improves his draft stock by doing this now rather than December, but I am no expert by any means.

He's going to really hate it if we somehow go undefeated and he's in peak conditioning ready to go in January.

Couldn't have hurt to stay in school and rehab in Columbus. Just in case he's 100% and wants to play again.

Not saying he won't be in the top 10, but you have other guys that have great credentials like Ed Oliver, and opportunity to have better showings. Sure, I'm looking through some mildly salty scarlet colored glasses, but in the end, the top NFL draft teams will have to sift through and analyze everything to decide on those important picks. I had envisioned Nick being picked #1, I'm not sure that would be the case now. In the end, I am a big fan of his, and hope for all the success in the world for the Bosa boys.

Hopefully he goes top 5 to a team with a good opportunity to win.

Yep.

Go get paid. Hard to tell how much he's missed with all the holding penalties not called, but I think our DE situation is just fine without him.

Completely disagree with this. The DE situation is far from ok. You have Cooper, who is solid but doesn't flash any sort of game breaking ability, Young, who goes missing for stretches of games...and? The freshman are a year away from being consistent contributors. Maybe some of them step up later in the year, but they're not there now. Minnesota was starting a true freshman OT and OSU had a hard time getting consistent pressure on passing downs.

Can’t blame him, college football will be like basketball soon...the elite talents will play a year or two, and they’ll either change the rules to let true sophs in, or they’ll shut it down and concentrate on the draft. Either way, the days of seeing elite senior talent are long gone, and they days of seeing elite junior talent aren’t far behind.

I was just talking to a co-worker, a good point was brought up: What if he is 100% come December, we make the playoffs, and Nick has an opportunity to torch a top opponent? Seems like shredding a Bama or Clemson (or the like) would raise his stock. I tend to agree that he was likely looking at being the top player taken (or at least the first non-QB taken depending on who is picking), but there may be some red flags raised on the injury issues at this point. It may be that a dominant game or two at the end of the year to prove he's healthy actually does make him some money and move him up. I get that is 100% speculation and may just as likely be the case that the risk of another injury outweighs the upside of playing. But it just seems like Nick would be in a much better position to make that determination in November/December rather than doing it now.

He's withdrawing from classes. He won't be eligible.
