That’s the shits of it right. Gene and the fans aren’t using the same criteria for the coach. Lots of folks would like to run Holtman off too and he isn’t close to being as successful as Day.That's how we got 13 years of Cooper.
I'm not saying they will fire Day. They most assuredly will not.
They should but they won't.

I’m thinking ConstanzaI'd keep him but make him wear clown shoes and a big red nose on the sidelines until he wins The Game again.
Hence why he changed course and decided that it would rather be okay if OSU hosts some CFP games in the expanded playoff structure. If he loses three times to TSUN, I don't think Smith will want to repeat Cooper.
This talk about Vrabel is vapor, but if a big name let it be known he was willing to take the job, then the situation also might be accelerated.
Remember, Smith is also thinking about his legacy and revenue. The era of Buckeye dominance is hanging by a thread. Lose the third time and everything suffers, ticket sales, recruiting, etc. Even now, the Shoe is no longer sold out for every game.
I don’t understand the fan base clamoring for a guy that doesn’t want to breathe the whole recruiting and NIL circus 24/7 and who himself was 1-3 in The Game when he played for the loaded team every year versus inferior UM squads, on paper.
He’s a NFL coach. He has a job that Jeff Fisher never “technically” got fired from after ten full seasons of backsliding.
It’s all in Days hands now..he not the fans knows who’s injured who’s hurting who’s unhappy ..no OSU coach has gotten a chance like this so no reference. Just win baby. There are question marks about anybody. He's a successful NFL coach with OSU ties so his name is going to come up.
Day has, most likely, been given an unprecedented second chance in the same season. If he redeems himself this won't be an issue. If he lays a similar type of egg with this second chance, Vrabel's most appealing quality might simply be that he isn't Ryan Day. Who knows? I'm hoping for a Day redemption but my confidence isn't sky high.
