DE Mike Vrabel (All B1G, All American, Pro Bowl, All Pro, Super Bowl Champion)

Great hire.

I don't know the details of the contract, but I wonder if this indicates their stance on Fickell. I don't think they'd have Mike retire from the NFL, after he said he wanted to continue playing, to let a new coach come in & bring in his own LB coach.

Ehh, maybe I'm overthinking.

I really like the hire too. Our defense has had more of a 3-4 look to it over the last couple of years and Vrabel might know a little something about that. I can't wait to see the passion the Silver Bullets play with this year! FTW!!! GO BUCKS! :oh:

Congrats to Mike!

This may not be the thread for it bt I wonder about how proud of a guy Fickell is and how soon he originally he expected to be running a program, let alone the size and stature of tOSU.

What I'm getting at is wondering whether there haven't been some behinds the scenes overtures and feelers to guage whether Fick, Vrabel, Drayton, Taver, etc. would be willing to work under Meyer and vice versa. Meyer of course would want to bring in a lot of his own hires but I wonder if some of the younger coaches mentioned above(+Drayton/Meyer have already worked together) would be the type of guys Meyer would gravitate towards anyways.

Is it possible that after the Sanctions are confirmed or after the season is over the Tress old guard retires(Heackock, Dick Tressel, Bolls), Luke slides over to DC, Vrabel remains at LB Coach, Haynes and Taver stay in the defensive backfield,Drayton at WR or RBs, and Meyer brings in a handpicked recruiting coordinator, offensive coordinator and DL coach?

Let's hope after Fickell leads them to another Big Ten championship and BCS bowl win this year they just award him a long term contract.

Not sure if you've read the news. Luke is OUR coach now. Let's let him and his staff go out and win a few games. MmmmmK?

Welcome home Mike! Love the add... Great to have this one back in the WHAC!

Guys... sorry. I should have known better than to make THAT post in THIS thread. I certainly would love for Luke to get the full support of the "head people in charge" and be here for 20 years, going down as the greatest coach in tOSU history with multiple B10 and national championships!

That said, as for the content of my original post, it's not something so far out of the realm of possibility that it's not worthy of discussion. Perhaps in another thread, perhaps at another time.

All the assholes on the other sites can talk about is the fact that he was arrested not too long ago. I'm having a hard time keeping my cool these days with all of the mouth breathing going on everywhere.

Someone remind me to just stay home and never leave BP. :teeth:

whatever became of that? Last I heard was his camp saying it was all a misunderstanding or something. Did it all get settled?

He was in a casino (where they offer free booze) it was a misunderstanding that the deli didn't count. He owned up to it and said it was going to be cleared.

This apparently was related to a bar tab.

The fact that they haven't reported anything since it happened on something so small, probably means it's resolved by now. (Since it was 3 months ago)
