Had some tough breaks with injuries early then compounded his set backs with poor decisions, but cited JT's life influences on him even after his transfer to Ball St and made the most of his second chance with his last two years of eligibility. Kid could have solved a lot of problems with the defense in 2011 & 2012 if he'd stayed, though he needed the reboot and a change of scenery. Seems to be a smart young man too; just didn't handle the transition to the Ohio State fish bowl very well.
Rather weird how it all worked out in the end. OSU sorely missed what he could have provided at OLB, but then if he'd stayed there's a high probability he winds up nowhere because Tressel had to show him the doghouse for him to mature. Bittersweet, but very happy for him.
The Colts have released linebacker Jonathan Newsomefollowing his arrest for possession of marijuana less than a week ago. Newsome used Twitter to thank the Colts organization following his release.
In case you wondered what Newsome is doing now....
Former Ohio State linebacker Jonathan Newsome, who finished at Ball State, also plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. They might have to be my second team this year after the Montreal Alouettes (suck on those seven Grey Cups, haters!).
