If so then you know more than I, but it appears you took that as a negative, but couldn't it just as easily be a positive remark meaning rather than do the "Glenville thing" and wait until next Winter he could commit earlier (to OSU)?
Ohio State football: Linebacker makes 23 recruits for '09

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Jonathan Newsome will testify there is nothing like seeing a lot of the rest of the world to make a fellow appreciate home.
That helped explain why Newsome, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker from Cleveland Glenville, yesterday became the 23rd commitment to Ohio State's fast-filling 2009 recruiting class. He got back a few days earlier from his high school coach Ted Ginn Sr.'s annual bus tour, in which Ginn takes prospects to college summer football camps across the Midwest.
"On that tour I saw a lot of schools, and I didn't think I could really see myself at some of those places," said Newsome, recalling stops that included Toledo, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue and Illinois. "I've liked Ohio State the most. My mother liked Ohio State the most.
"I knew that's where I wanted to go, and it didn't really make sense to keep waiting."
Newsome commits to OSU

From staff reports
Glenville defensive end Jonathan Newsome orally committed to Ohio State on Tuesday. Now he can become a recruiter and move on to persuading a Tarblooders teammate to join him in Columbus.
Newsome (6-3, 230), an incoming senior recruited as a defensive end and outside linebacker, is ranked among the top-60 defensive ends in the country. His friend and teammate, Marcus Hall, is one of the nation's top five offensive tackles and is considering the Buckeyes.
"I'm not going to put pressure on him because he's my friend. But don't think I'm not going to be there in his ear whispering Ohio State," Newsome said.
Hall is not close to making a decision, Newsome said, adding that he believes Hall will wait until he makes some official campus visits in the fall.
Newsome is the 23rd oral commitment for Ohio State, the sixth in the past four days. Newsome's finalists were OSU, Michigan State and Illinois.
"If football doesn't work out, I want to be a coach, coaching at the college level or high school. Start my own dynasty somewhere," he said.
"Start my own dynasty somewhere," he said.

High school football players from St. Ignatius and Glenville share what's on their minds all week long as they get ready for Saturday's showdown between The Plain Dealer's top two teams.
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
What my teammate, Ter rance Owens, said earlier this month to The Plain Dealer about St. Ignatius having a "nice little program" was a fig ure of speech because every player on the Glenville team knows there's nothing little about St. Ignatius football.
When I think about St. Ignatius, the first thing I think about is tradition. They have a lot of tradition. They're fundamental, and if you ask me, they're one of the top high school programs in the country.
Then I think about coach Chuck Kyle and the nine state championships they've won. Just lining up against them and playing against coach Kyle is (an honor).

Jonathan Newsome, Glenville Our last practice was the best so far.
Everyone was quiet and focused and senior Mike Edwards said a few words to the team before practice. He said how we're one and that we're a true team and family.
It really pumped me up and I think it pumped up everyone because defensive practice was intense.
There was a mental period at the beginning where we lined up in St. Ignatius' formations and basically had a short walk-through. The scout team gave us a good look and the defensive line was dominant.
The scout report says we need to worry about St. Ignatius quarterback Andrew Holland because he's a running threat. He has two solid receivers to throw to in Connor Ryan and Joe Parris because they run solid routes.
And their running back, Mike Anter, has good speed.
Hopefully all the hard work I put in during the off-season pays off. I wasn't as focused my junior year as I am now. After all, I'm a senior and there's no next year.
With St. Ignatius being the opener, they were my focal point during my off-season workouts and I improved in all aspects.
I couldn't lift more than 200 pounds last year and I'm now benching 315 pounds. I always had a good squat. I was squatting 335 pounds a year ago, but I'm up to 450 pounds. My best time in the 40 last year was 4.78 seconds. This year, I've run 4.69 seconds.
Newsome is a senior defensive end who has orally committed to Ohio State.

It's getting crazy around the house right now, and why not? The Glenville-Ignatius game is just a day away.
My mom, Kimberly, and my little sister, Kimille, are pumped up, but they're doing their best to give me my own space. They know I need to remain focused on what I have to do once the game gets going, and I'll stay focused by listening to some Lil Wayne.
As nervous and loud as they might get, I can't get mad at them because they're my biggest fans, especially mom.
She's been at every one of my games, screaming and rooting her heart out in the stands, since I started playing football in the Muny League. She's my lady.
