DE Lawrence Wilson (official thread)

His recruitment is starting to remind me of Sian Cotton a couple years ago. Nearly everyone thought he was going to verbal to Florida, including his parents and coach. But he then verballed to Ohio State and one of the factors he gave was distance I believe. If I'm not mistaken, Lawrence attends the same high school as Sian did. I know this is just a coincidence, but it certainly is taking on some striking similarities.

Does it just seem like he's looking for any reason or excuse not to come here! I would like to think positive on this kid but I think he just wants to leave the state. Florida.
I disagree 100%. As his father said, what's not to like about Florida when you are a teenager in Ohio? However, the distance will eliminate that as his father did not sound too keen on the idea. scUM may make a late push, but in the end, LW is a Buckeye.

Florida is a serious competitor. Unlike the types of players like Daniels who don't want to become buckeyes (which is fine, not everyone is cut out to be one anyway) and the types who are torn between two schools.

Florida is a top school that under Meyer should catch fire. Meyer only has to be good for recruits to flock to him and he'll be hailed as the new Spurrier. And if Meyer IS as good as the worship he receives from ESPiN, then its pretty easy to see why Wilson would be interested to go there.

Also, its gotta be somewhat compelling to have the guy who hooked him for ND to head to UF and recruit him to there.

I think he's trying to do what's best for his future. He's not necessarily looking for an excuse to leave Ohio. He's just looking at and considering a very compelling reason to do so. I don't know off-hand, but tOSU brings in top defensive lineman (and often TE's too) every year, so he might have a better shot at Florida.

Sorry for being lazy and not reviewing ever thread but has anybody seen Wilson play in person? He sounds like a possible TE with the Basketball background. IMO

HB
I would imagine that is where he ends up. 6'6" 230 with greta athleticism... plus we already have Gholston, Worthington, Williams, Barrow and possibly Walker Ashley at DE, and only Nicol right now as a young TE. I would have to think he adds to our speed/spread/shot-ginn offense and we get him out there catching passes. He could be very deadly.

EDIT: Sorry I forgot about Frost as well. Frost can play either way (DE/TE), so I assume Wilson cames in the same way keepign both options open. But, I want him on O.
