DE Lawrence Wilson (official thread)

This is a great indication of not only Wilson's increasing interest in Notre Dame, but also Weis' ability to recruit and make a great impression on families.

Just a great indication that Wilson has wanted and probably still wants to be a Domer. Willingham's firing struck a nerve, but apparently, the Wilson's weren't as "appalled" at his firing as they let on to be.

Nothing really new from this update done by the Notre Dame Rivals site. Wilson is impressed with Weis and his Super Bowl rings. He asked him whether or not he could play TE for the Irish, because he likes catching passes, and Weis was excited. Wilson did say that Ohio State is his leader.

The Monday Night Football crew just did a glowing piece on Weiss, referring to how he just flew out to Ohio to visit with a recruit who decommitted from Notre Dame when Willingham got fired, and was immediately back to take care of his duties with the Pats.

Here's hoping Wilson doesn't take the MNF reference as too much of a compliment.

Akron Ohio defensive end Lawrence Wilson has thrown his name in the Gators visit list. The previous Notre Dame commitment still has a liking for the Fighting Irish but will look around before making a final decision. Recent reports have the 6-5, 228-pound recruit possibly wishing to play tight end at the collegiate level. The Gators would only bring him in as a defensive lineman.

I believe Wilson is looking for reasons NOT to come to OSU. I am usually an optimist, but I would say we have a 10-15% at this young man IMHO.

Exactly what I was thinking. He seems like a young man who just wants to get out of state for school. The reasons are there for him to consider OSU (lack of depth at DE, coaches do allow kids to switch positions and even play both O and D), but he just seems to want to go elsewhere. That is fine as it is his decision and he needs to select what is best for him.

He would be great at Florida. See hwo they used Ben Troupe and the numbers he produced. Now, I know it was a different coaching staff, but he is a true athlete and Meyer's offense is built around athletic players and speed. He could thrive down here in Gainesville. If he doesn't go to tOSU, I would love to watch him down here at UF.

Wilson will be visiting Florida on January 7th. He thinks Urban Meyer is "cool" and he's excited about his visit. Wilson says Notre Dame is still in the running and he likes Coach Weis. When asked about his favorites Wilson has this to say about Ohio State "It is close to home, and I know the program."

Wilson likes Notre Dame's tradition and "their education." He likes that scUM is good every year.

Wilson will choose between Ohio State, ND, scUM and Florida.

Wilson's brother is on academic scholarship to OSU and his parents really like the Bucks. I think that will be more of a factor than whatever BS Meyer throws at him. Willingham's firing will haunt ND for a while-if Weiss performs the same as Willingham, but gets more than 3 years-ND will be in a major pr pickle.
