OSU CAN KEEP BOSA FRESH. Larry Johnson said on Monday that Joey Bosa should play between 60 and 65 snaps a game to be at his best. (He routinely saw over 80 last year.)
Bosa played 0 snaps against Virginia Tech, and while losing a future Top 5 NFL Draft pick is never a good idea, it's actually turned into a blessing in disguise.

Lewis, Holmes and Hubbard all have sacks already. Holmes has forced a fumble, Hubbard has recovered one and Lewis has shown a relentless motor with two tackles for a loss. And while their early success isn’t going to leave Bosa fearing for his job, it does leave him in an early hole with some ground to make up statistically.
“We’re not just going to put guys in because we say we’re a going to roll eight people, we’re not going to put guys in there just because we get up a few points,” defensive coordinator Luke Fickell said. “We’re going to put guys in that deserve to be in there, and that’s the beautiful thing about it. At that position, those guys have earned the opportunity to get in there.
“You hate to say it was because of somebody else’s fault, but it has given them an opportunity to do some things.”
Ohio State's depth is going to carry it through the regular season. Then when the playoffs role around, Ohio State's workhorses will be fresh and the SEC champion will be crying about getting "beat up" during the regular season (despite the month off).

There's a reason Ohio State's most significant foe going forward may be itself. The Buckeyes might be the most talented. They're certainly the most favored. That's the disappointment at this point. They're not playing like it.
They're not panicking either.

Why should they panick? The College Football Playoff has diminished the value of beingNo. 1. All you have to do is finish in the top four and take your chances. Ohio State proved that last season. The first CFP rankings are still six weeks away.
What's to worry? Cardale Jones threw a couple of picks and was replaced by the 2014 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year (J.T. Barrett).

OHIO STATE'S JOEY BOSA NOT CONCERNED WITH LOW SACK TOTAL EARLY ON IN 2015
Joey Bosa didn't make the physical motion. Instead, Ohio State's All-American defensive end used his words to shrug off the question relating to his sack total through his first three games of the 2015 season.
"I think everyone has seen the other two that didn't count," Bosa joked following the Buckeyes' practice Wednesday evening. "Stats don’t really matter as long as we’re out there playing well.”
Ohio State is 4-0 as it prepares to travel to Indiana on Saturday to open Big Ten play. The Buckeyes will bring with them a defense that ranks in the Top 10 nationally in both yards allowed (6th, 253.3 per game) and points allowed (10th, 12.3 per game).
A large portion of the credit for the Ohio State's early-season success on the defensive side goes to the pass rush. The Buckeyes are tied for sixth in the country with 14 sacks through four games. Bosa, however, has contributed just half of a sack to that total.
There's no reason to be alarmed by that low total, though, head coach Urban Meyer said Wednesday. Because of Bosa's past success, he's seen a lot of teams scheme against him and send multiple blockers in his direction on passing downs.

He posterized the Indiana QB twice that I saw yesterday. One could see the words, "No mas, man, no mas" on his face and knew he wouldn't play another series of downs!

Is it wrong that I think he's been the best player on defense since he's been back? Teams are scheming away from him, he's being held damn near every play I watch him, and he's still a massive disruption. I know the numbers aren't incredible but it seems like every time something happens, Bosa's in the middle of it. Kid should be drawing 5 holding calls per game if the refs actually did their jobs.

Yeah I agree. Easy to notice on the D as he's constantly forcing throws, getting hits on the QB and getting TFLs. Sometimes he runs too far upfield on pass plays, but that was mostly in the 1st half. Hope people don't make the Clowney comparison because he's about as disruptive as you can be.

He's doing his part sucking in a lot of the double teams, and terrible holds.
The rest of the DLine (and LBs) are doing their part racking up sacks, TFLs, and countless hurries and hits just as the ball is released.

I have been more impressed with his run defense this year. He has made some outstanding plays from the backside where he has just crushed his blocker and crashed down the line like a wrecking ball and stopped the RB at the LOS. Sacks aren't a measure of his play by any means. He is doing much more than making a sack a game. He will ultimately still get his sacks too by the end of the year is the thing even though he is drawing double teams, TE chips, and RB help.
