Does he not have another visit to make? I think the switching of numbers is just us saying "look what we're willing to do for you", and less of a sign of things to come. I may be wrong.
Could be...but when was the last time someone wore #40 for the Buckeyes? I know it’s a retired # so special permission has to be granted (correct me if I’m wrong.)
So I’m not sure if the team would do all of that to just say, “hey, look what we’re willing to do.”

Thats just my opinion, though.

The J.T. Tuimoloau Tracker: What's happening with 2021's No. 1 recruit

J.T. TALKS ABOUT HIS THIRD OFFICIAL VISIT TO OHIO STATE (JUNE 20)
J.T. Tuimoloau. finally got the chance to visit Ohio State.

The nation's No. 1 player for the class of 2021, Tuimoloau planned to visit each of his final five, Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Washington.

But of those five, Ohio State, was the only school he had never visited on prior to this summer. The current 247Sports Crystal Ball leader, the Buckeyes did a strong job with the Tuimoloau family.

"I loved it, it was a very good trip, getting to come out here with all my family," Tuimoloau told 247Sports. "The people around us on the trip were very genuine and a first class act altogether. I always felt like they shot it straight with us."

PREVIEWING J.T. TUIMOLOAU'S OFFICIAL VISIT TO OREGON (JUNE 21)
The turnaround is quick for Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic defensive lineman J.T. Tuimoloau as he heads down to Oregon for his fourth official visit.

In fact, there was no return home from his Ohio State visit- his flight from Columbus was headed to Eugene (with a layover in Denver, but sorry Buff and Ram fans).

For Tuimoloau, this is the second time he'll be in Eugene this calendar year- he was in town for a spring practice back in April, in an open-to-the-public spring practice the Ducks held.

Jack Sawyer just switched his number from 33 to 40. I wonder who would want the number 33?

Just maybe Sawyer switching jersey numbers is a "NIL thing":

Ohio State commits see jersey number as tool to build personal brands

Since 1984, sports fans can’t see the number 23 on a jersey — whether it’s an Ohio State football jersey, a baseball jersey, or a hockey sweater — without thinking of Michael Jordan.

That’s the power of branding, after all, and Nike and Jordan figured out the importance of building a personal brand earlier than most.

35 years later, it’s more important than ever, especially in college sports, as the possibility of players receiving compensation for their name, image and likeness increases. That’s why, for a number of Ohio State commitments, the always important jersey number they’ve worn throughout their football careers is set to take on new value. It’s even why some players are thinking ahead and wondering if they should change their number in order to be even more marketable.
.
.
.
Ohio State commitment Jack Sawyer, a 5-star defensive end from Pickerington, wears No. 40 and has for most of his football-playing life, inspired by a Madden football hero who played for the Cleveland Browns.

“What made me pick it originally was Peyton Hillis,” Sawyer said, laughing. “When I was a running back in the third grade. The number 40 has been my number since I can remember starting to play football so it means a lot to me because it’s kind of who I am now.

“It wouldn’t feel right wearing a different one.”

Still, growing up in the shadows of Ohio Stadium and knows the value of numbers and Buckeyes traditions more than most of his peers. His number, number 40, is the ring of honor at Ohio Stadium and that means it’ll take some extra steps to have the chance to wear it.

“I really want to be able to wear number 40 at Ohio State,” Sawyer said. “Hopalong Cassidy wore it, and he was a phenomenal player who represented Ohio State with the number 40. I hope I can be able to continue that tradition on wearing number 40.”

SCOTUS timed it perfectly for Saban. I can hardly imagine the package he will be offering

Meh, don’t think timing hurts OSU. They gave their NIL presentation, Ryan Day presented personally and they blew him away. I doubt Bama is any more prepared than they would have been if this law passed later

Yeah right.....:ohno:

Do we know the specifics of whether LJ plans to use him primarily on the edge? I seem to recall him being considered a versatile DT initially, Oregon’s advantage was the fact that they were recruiting him primarily as a DE, no? It seems that has shifted as all the talk becomes lining up opposite Jack Sawyer. Which, if that’s case, should far and away be the enticing option over a Nick Saban scheme that does not turn out studs like LJ’s D-line friendly front

A couple of the analyst presented some thought provoking input...
Regarding NIL... Bama has put quite a few DEs into the NFL... name them.. name any of them
Johnson has put Joey, Nick and Chase into the NFL plus others... but you know those names
The difference of the Bosa contracts vs the best Bama contract is well over $18M
$18M far exceeds whatever even a bogus NIL could put on his table. LT gain vs ST gain...

As far as position, it was stated.... let him try wherever he wants... him and Johnson will evaluate
and they'll come to grips with whatever position he's best suited...
If he wants DE... a Bama DE in a 3-4 has primary responsibility to hold things up for the LB to make the play
Johnson and the 4-3 says "sic 'em... cause mayhem"

Heard that. I want to say it was Tom Orr from the Scoop. I, too, thought it was an enlightened observation.
