J.T. TALKS ABOUT HIS FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT TO WASHINGTON (JUNE 6)
J.T. Tuimoloau took his first official visit over the weekend, starting out a busy month of officials with the closest school in his final five, hometown Washington.

Almost 45 months from his offer from the Huskies, just weeks into his freshman year, Jimmy Lake and the Husky staff hosted the nation's No. 1 player for the class of 2021.

"This being my first official as well as only having taken four unofficials, it was a great experience," Tuimoloau said. "Just getting to see all the people there that I’ve only seen through Zoom, pretty much transferred person to person, and they were great people, real people."

A BUSY WEEK FOR J.T. TUIMOLOAU, EVEN WITHOUT OFFICIAL VISITS (JUNE 8)
It will be a busy week for Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic five-star J.T. Tuimoloau, even without official visits.

On Tuesday night, Tuimoloau will play the final prep game of his storied Crusaders career when Eastside Catholic takes on Seattle (Wash.) Prep in the final basketball game of the season.

While playing hoops for Eastside Catholic, he netted two basketball offers specifically for the hardwood, from Washington and from Oregon, in addition to the numerous offers he had for football.

The other headline of the show is J.T. Tuimoloau impending visit. After months of not hearing any updates on the No. 3 player in the class of 2021, he’ll arrive in Columbus on Thursday night. The second-ranked defensive lineman and 24th-ranked all-time recruit, landing Tuimoloau would be a massive get for the Buckeyes. He’s already visited Washington and Southern California this month and has trips to Oregon and Alabama scheduled for the end of June. Hitting a home run this weekend is crucial for the Buckeyes.

The numbers tell a simple story.

No defensive player, not since the modern recruiting era began in 2001, who has signed with Ohio State has had a higher recruiting rating than Tuimoloau. Not Chase Young, not Nick Bosa, not Jeff Okudah, not Jack Sawyer, not Zach Harrison. None of them. Terrelle Pryor and Ted Ginn Jr. are the only Buckeye signees to have higher ratings than Tuimoloau’s, and Quinn Ewers will join them later this year. Justin Fields’ rating was higher, too, though he inked with Georgia out of high school.

To put that into perspective, in the past two decades Ohio State has produced 25 All-American defensive players and turned 22 defensive players into first-round picks, and when it comes to recruiting ratings, Tuimoloau is on a level of his own.

Tuimoloau has an 0.9990 composite rating, making him the 24th-highest-rated recruit since 2001, tying him with Myles Garrett and Matt Barkley. In the 2021 cycle, he’s the No. 3 overall prospect – just behind USC-bound Korey Foreman and Alabama-bound JC Latham – though 247Sports ranks him tops at No. 1.

So, yeah. He’s good.

If I want to follow JT from the airport to campus, with Fight The Team blaring from a loudspeaker bolted to the roof of my car, that's nobody's business but mine, JT's, and the police officer's who responds to JT's call.
