DE Jack Sawyer (All B1G, Buckeye Legend)

One thing about Jack's play – it would have been epic had it just been a sack, a nice exclamation point on a game-defining goal line stand. Add in the scoop and score and it becomes absolutely legendary.

This morning, I told my wife that the Pickerington Six was the greatest play in Ohio State football history. Then she asked: Is it the greatest play in CFB history? I couldn't definitely say "no". It's got to be on any top-whatever lists of great CFB plays. It will obviously climb any such list if the Buckeyes end up bringing home the title.

Sawyer became just the fifth Buckeye to have multiple scoop and scores for his career, the others being Michael Doss (3); Matt Finkes (2); Joey Bosa (2); and Darron Lee (2). Prior to Sawyer, Lee was the last Buckeye to have two scoop and scores in the same season, that being the 2014 national championship campaign.

I’m probably alone in this, but it drives me crazy to call that play a strip sack or a scoop and score. It vastly under sells what happened. Going forward I’m gonna refer to it as the Smash and Grab and Score™. Mr. Sawyer crashed right through the front of the store, took the valuable(s) and ran off faster than anyone could catch him. That’s a smash and grab.

edit: to be clear Thee Pickerington 6 is a great title for a posterity plaque. Smash and grab and score is for descriptive purposes.

We could consider calling it the John Wilkes Booth play because he snuck up behind them and blew their fucking brains out.

No?

Too soon?
@Thump

edit: snuck up behind does not equal crashing through the front. So no.

I'm glad you had the good sense to govern yourself accordingly. I was about to unleash the lawyers.

This may or may not be beneath others on this site, but since it was Jack Sawyer, basically a walk-off play, and seems be fappaable material, I'm going to call it The Jack Off.
