agreed. you can't control how others react to what you do or even if they'll find out, but especially when you're a vitally important member of the team, you must be a by-the-book player. he has a responsibility not only to himself but also to those who count on him to be a leader by example. no, chase didn't take thousands in cash from a booster, and, yes, he apparently paid the loan back promptly, but he was still taking a risk he shouldn't have.
moral of the story: don't put pussy on a pedestal.

Does his family still live in Maryland? I was under the impression that he was still in Columbus, i.e. going to classes and practices, etc.
If everything here is on the up and up and I'll assume it is,
1) player needs money
2) player borrows money from a family friend (beats taking out a loan at a bank, even if the bank would lend the player without any collateral the money)
3) player fully pays back the money to the lender as agreed to and/or in a timely manner, etc.
What is the NCAA rule violation here where a student isn't permitted to borrow money?
