Fuck the ncaa if they end his season. I've always been in we're not the SEC, so try and do things right and self-report and take our lumps if we find out something shady has been going on. I'm not so sure about that. If it's this minor, don't make it major by trying to hide it, especially if it was brought to their attention by someone with an axe to grind who could take it to a McMurphy-type media asshole. Keep him from getting hurt against cupcakes for a week or two, let it bring the team even closer together, and move on. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I take anything Kirk Herbstreit says about insider knowledge with a grain of salt. He is always desperate to pretend that he is a big-time Ohio State insider and former standout.

I am relieved by the reports of the loan being to Chase to fly his girlfriend out to the game. The prior speculation about his family getting the loan hadn't made sense to me and had concerned me because by all I've read they're solidly middle class or even upper middle class, shouldn't need loans to go to a game, and also just seemed way too solid as people generally to do something silly like taking that sort of loan (I get that we don't actually know nor should know their actual economic situation) Chase having a short-term minor cash flow issue (as noted by others, solid evidence that he isn't getting anything he shouldn't) and wanting a little help to get his girlfriend (undefeated) to the game makes much more sense and garners much more sympathy. Him being out next week would be absurd. Anything more would be criminal.

i'd be disappointed in chase letting down his teammates. unlike with bosa, this is not an injury that carries the fear of re-aggravation.
