DE Caden Curry (National Champion)

What the heck. tOSU has a LB playing RB, and a RB playing LB. So why not switch things up a bit and have him play OT....seriously, do like the versatility of the players, surprised a OG hasn't been kicked out to play OT, as there seems to be more OGs that are better and the backup OTs. maybe this has been tried and found wanting, or ? If as Day opines, it's not about effort, it's hand placement, etc, then that can/should be teachable. Sooooo, how come it hasn't? Frye has (hopefully) assistants that teach minutae, no? This is a very confusing conundrum. Also stumped how come the 2s aren't closer to the 1s. Seriously doubt they're slackers, so is he saying the talent isn't there, or teachability, or initiative? Or am I missing something by listening to coach-speak? Go Bucks!

CADEN CURRY EMBRACING OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL WITH NEW ROLE AS FULLBACK

Facing 3rd-and-goal at the 1-yard line in a scoreless game against Notre Dame, Ohio State turned to a surprising candidate to try to lead Miyan Williams into the end zone.
As the Buckeyes took their wide receivers off the field for their goal-line rushing attempt, defensive lineman Caden Curry entered the lineup as a fullback in the I-formation.

The play didn’t work, which Ryan Day said was because “it wasn't really quite identified properly,” and Ohio State ended up turning the ball over on downs after an incomplete pass on 4th-and-goal. But that didn’t stop the Buckeyes from turning to Curry in another short-yardage situation in its subsequent and most recent game against Maryland.
In his second offensive snap as a Buckeye, Curry helped lead Ohio State to a 4th-and-1 conversion as he stuck a block on a Maryland defender with Chip Trayanum running behind him for a first down.

This Ohio State football player is a breakout candidate on defense

This Ohio State football player could be in a starting role next season and could break out.

The Ohio State football team will have a lot of new starters on the defensive side of the ball in 2025. The defense had one of the all-time runs in the College Football Playoff. Quite frankly, the Buckeyes wouldn't have beaten Texas without one of the all-time great goal-line stands.

Now, the Ohio State Buckeyes have to replace all of those great players on defense. In fact, they have to replace their entire defensive line. All of their starters from this past year will be in the NFL next season. That means that there will be four first-time starters up front.

One of those guys is a big-time breakout candidate for this defense. He is someone who seems to be in the right spot at the right time. This player is someone who has blocked punts for the Buckeyes, too. I am talking about defensive end Caden Curry.

Ohio State football player Caden Curry has a chance to be a breakout player this season

The Buckeyes are excited about what Curry can bring as a starter. This past season as a reserve, he had 22 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He also had a huge blocked punt against Purdue. Now that he will be given more snaps, he is someone who can have a bigger impact on the game.

Curry just always seems to be around the ball. He reminds me of Tyquan Lewis. Lewis was someone who was there to make big plays. Whether it was a big tackle, a sack, or a forced fumble, he was just around the ball enough to create chaos. Curry can be that player for the Buckeyes next year.

Ohio State is confident that Curry is ready for this new role. They like what he brings in terms of his motor. In addition to making plays, he never stops working. He's a good example to set for the rest of the defense next season. It wouldn't be surprising to see him have at least eight sacks next year.
