DC Matt Patricia (Official Thread)

Listening to all you guys say you were wrong about Patricia…it’s like I’m in a court ordered AA meeting and wasn’t even at the party.

I seriously don’t remember this anti Patricia argument thing (so I guess I believe anyone who says where they were on it).

Pretty sure Kelly and Day had an understanding on the front end that it was going to be one or possibly two and done. Better shot with Patricia, I think. He seems to really like working with his guys.

Even if Kelly told Day he wanted to finish his career at Ohio State, the Raiders have him an offer so big he couldn't refuse.

I could see the same thing happen to Patricia. However, he seems happy right now, and I hope we can hang into him for a few years.

Oh there was a MASSIVE anti Patricia sentiment when he was hired. And many analysts laughing at the hire and mocking Day. The Lions job did some major damage to Patricia’s reputation. I’d say it was as bad as Sarks reputation for being a drunk at USC. And those who defended Patricia by saying he was the DC for so many of the Pats Subs were shouted down and told it was all because of Belichek. Funny how things can change. Similar to when LJsr was hired and many disliked that hire as well

I get that being a college coach has to suck more now with the Portal and NIL than it used to. On the other hand, for a DC, at school like tOSU you will always have a better toy box to play with than most other jobs. In the NFL you might end up with 2-3 studs and you gameplan to maximize the opportunities for those players. For tOSU you have a whole defense of future NFL players. It has to be fun coming up with schemes when you can literally scheme for anyone. I'm sure that alone wouldn't be enough to hold off the NFL, but if I was already sitting on a pile of money, I would have to consider which job I would rather go to every morning.
