DC Matt Patricia (Official Thread)

I just don't think Day squanders the post-NC karma reserve he's got on a bad DC hire. We can all speculate based on the past, but we don't really know anything until there's feedback from inside the Woody. What I'm reading from both the coaches and players is that they're glad Patricia was hired. Up to a point, yes, they've got to say that, BUT they're going past that point and in detail that they don't have to give and what they're saying, coupled with his DC experience, should translate positively to the field.

I could be fairly entertained if he should happen to restart the pick six university tradition against Penn State and maybe have his defense outscore their offense ...
Downs just housing a pick in that game would be awesome, not picky on who it is though. It will be interesting to see how many turnovers we create under his defense.

Great interview by Schlegs and Bobby with MP. Idk, he seems like a VERY different guy than his Detroit days. Comes off very likeable

Some of the buzz when it was just a rumor of his hiring was concerning. I’m thrilled with the surround sound on him coming out of the WHAC and things like this just back it up.

I’m really looking forward to what he puts on the field this year.

A wise man once told me that things are never as bad as it looks, but of course they are never as good as we hope for. My life experiences after that day has been a testament to those words.

Patricia has been a tremendous surprise and date I say he’s an upgrade from Knowles. I’ll enjoy the ride I’m sure. Go bucks!

I think he'll be great, but it might not show up on the field until well into the season. DLs make defenses IMO, and he's got a brand new one especially in the interior, to work with, as well as a new "QB" for the defense and an at least somewhat new system to implement. I would be shocked if there aren't some pretty considerable growing pains, although they may show up more with our second good opponent as we might get an advantage on Texas since they won't have film on what we're doing and I'm not buying the Arch Manning hype.
