Wow. I find a CB offer in this cycle very interesting.

The staff must think this guy is a future 1st rounder considering current depth plus guys already in this class.

His film kind of reminds me of Okudah's film last year, in that he is a tall rangy DB who has the skill set to play either corner or safety... kid's definitely not afraid to tackle either. Don't know what our chances are with this kid but I like the offer he has great instincts and his read react and break on the ball is A1. watching his film I kept saying to myself "football Player" He's a kid that knows the game.

Think this is one of those "cover all your bases" type offers. Doesn't send up any red flags for me.
But every DB in current class is already signed right? Unless the staff projects more DB attrition than they want and so will add another late in this cycle?

My point of confusion was I just thought we were done at DB for this class and everyone was already signed so it caught me off guard.

I agree with @wadc45 , they’re going after the best available.

I think the new signing period has done a few unique things that haven’t been seen in past recruiting. Kids now are committing and signing early over pressure from coaches to keep their spots in classes. Under the radar kids will remain that and at times now be unable to be seen later in the process by bigger schools(I.e. the Elijah Gardner’s and Jahsen Wints may not become Buckeyes). And after the early signing period dust settles, schools now make the decision of going after their needs(I.e. NPF, Walker, Friday, JJB) and/or going after the best available talents (I.e. Washington and Brown)

Could also be that because of Jaiden Woodbey not coming on board in this class, which the staff has not addressed in replacing yet, the staff is considering moving Tyreke Johnson from CB to S (especially after his stellar play in the all-star games as an efforcer), which would open up a CB spot in this class...
