Try and see the positive in this situation...a kid who had offers to several D1 programs across the country, who the staff deemed worthy of an offer, and who accepted that offer. I am a big fan of Pentello and the only players I could see this impacting would be borderline guys (either because of grades or whatever) like Jeremiah, Hines or Brent.
I am surprised but not disappointed. The staff has had numerous opportunity to see this kid and have a better track record on judging talent then I do. From what I have heard is he will be a upstanding citizen on and off the field. This is also the type of kid that wants to be a Buckeye. He is the type that would break his leg just to make a game saving tackle against tsun.
It is quite easy to see the positives in this pickup. A coaching staff that has left us recruitnics scratching our heads time and again the past few years only to be proven dead on the money (Malcolm Jenkins, Donald Washington, etc.) has extended an offer. When JT recruits it is the offer that proves the merit. Simple as that.
I think this would raise some questions about some of the DB silent commits or possibilities?
Has someone not made his grades?
Has someone decided to back out and go elsewhere?
Very interesting!
