DB Marcus Hooker (transfer to Youngstown St.)

I think it would be very hard to keep a two-time DUI on the team, regardless of when the first one occurred. It happens again and you are Florida State.
This was just talked about on the BM5 or Buckeye Scoop podcasts, and they said because the first one didn't happen while he was enrolled on campus, that this scenario would be different than if he were an enrolled freshman.

Just sayin': Before rendering a final verdict on Hooker there's one question that should be answered and any punishment and/or subsequent action should depend on the answer.

Is he an alcoholic who can't stop drinking and needs serious help, or is he just someone defying authority?

Suffering from a disease that renders you incapable of performing your duties doesn't keep you employed in the real world past the first incident and attempt at recovery. Don't see how it's any different here if he's a multi DUI guy.

Get him help if he needs it but addiction being a disease (which I completely agree with btw) doesn't keep your spot on the team. You still have to face the consequences of your actions as you start down the trail of recovery.

I agree, that is true.

Probably time for his brother to step in

Ohio State safety Marcus Hooker entered a guilty plea for operating a motor vehicle while impaired on Monday during his arraignment at the Franklin County Municipal Court. According to court records, Hooker was fined $375 in addition to $107 in court costs and had his driver's license suspended for a year, although he did get limited driving privileges. The Buckeye third-year junior was also sentenced to three days in jail but had that sentence suspended.

“He's back with the team,” Ryan Day said Friday at Big Ten Media Days. “He's going through a tough time, but he's learned a lot from it and paid his dues and went through a bunch of different programs and so, we're supporting Marcus and he's back on the team.”

And just like that……85.

11W article says 84.

Yeah, they said we hit the 85 mark with Turrentine's departure.

I honestly forgot he was still on the team. And that's not to be negative, I just haven't heard his name called or seen his number. Hopefully he can find another school where he can see the field. He's talented, but maybe not to the OSU level

Yeah, he's been in and out of the proverbial "coaches' doghouse" due to a drinking/DUI problems too. Maybe a fresh start at another school will be beneficial for him. Good luck top him wherever he ends up.
