But that PI he had was very strange. What happened on that play? Did he really just lay into Limas?

That's what it looked like to me...and I know the Buckeyes had help in the endzone, but I think Sweed had a very good chance at making that catch in the endzone...

TWO-QUESTION INTERVIEW: Malcolm Jenkins, OSU cornerback

Monday, September 11, 2006

In the Buckeyes' rotating defense, the sophomore once again was a rock, playing every defensive snap in Ohio State's 24-7 win over Texas. He often found himself covering, and chatting with, the hero of last year's game, Texas receiver Limas Sweed. That included one end-zone lob that Jenkins defended that looked a lot like Sweed's winning catch from 2005.
Q: Did you think you had good position on that play?
A: Oh yeah, a big receiver like that likes to push off a little bit, so I leaned on him and timed the ball. It was identical position [to last year]. It wasn't exactly the same play -- we were in a different coverage -- but the way he tried to catch it was the same way.
Q: It looked like Sweed was talking a little trash with you early on?
A: Oh yeah, it's just two competitors out there competing. I talk just like he does, so I think both of us just have passion.

#1 Great pics!...thanks for finding & sharing them.

#2 Love Malcolm Jenkins! I posted earlier (this Spring I think) that he might be the first CB that I personally find as one of my favorite players on a particular team since Springs & Winfield.

#3 Wow. Is that ref. "right on" this play or what? That's some serious concentration. It drys my eyes out just looking at him.

#4 Is the gentleman in the burnt orange shirt in pic 2 watching the same game we were? How is he standing there...15 ft. from a HUGE play void of any emotion or sign of interest? Man! The lights are on but no one looks to be home!

Anyway, thanks again for the sweet pics. MJ is a stud!

True, but that's also what we thought of Youboty. Remember his great game against Braylon Edwards his sophomore year?

Jenkins has demonstrated his potential as a great OSU corner with good performances against UT and ND. Let's see if he can continue that through out the entire stretch of the season.

If he doesn't leave school early....
He still has room to go to reach that level... but the potential is certainly there... regardless of whether he goes pro or not.

does jenkins 'cheat' on his coverage? Youboty did, and teams took advantage of that after watching the 04 film (and his injury).

But you can also argue that Youboty was better at shedding blocks and making tackles than Jenkins at this point. Both players possess excellent physical attributes, we should examine Jenkin's play as the season progresses, especially against those spread offenses.

ps. As I have mentioned before, I believe that Jenkins is an excellent cover corner from watching him go against Ginn in that night practice. I really hope he gets a chance to showcase his talent to the nation.
