DB/LB Chad Hagan (official thread)

Looked stiff in his movements and sub par lateral acceleration...he was also pretty easy to take down running the ball. He is willing to hit though...all in all the staff must have just seen something in him at camp imo.

Hagan didn't camp. Wanted to make it to the Advanced camp but couldn't find a ride. If you ask me this kid's future is at Star or OLB, and the staff has done pretty good at 'hitting' in those areas...

Yeah he is a bigger kid, probably a Star. I don't think he looked bad exactly, but nothing really jumped off the screen at me. I expected a faster and more nimble player in his clips at RB than what I saw.

Great kid, good offer, unfortunate helmets/uniforms.

My son will be a freshman at CM this year. When he was in biddy league his helmet was not allowed past the garage. To make matters worse, their fight song is Notre Dame's. First HS game I went to, I came home and told the wife we were moving.

If I understand correctly, he missed his entire junior year with an injury so that would make this sophomore video?

Looking stiff can also be that he was a soph and not sure of himself. To me, he is a very impressive athlete for only being a soph in the video.

I haven't watched the video; I'm still at work, but it is definitely not his sophmore year. He sat out that year to focus on basketball, which was the sport his family was convinced would get him a "ship", at least that's what I've been told. He may have missed parts of a game or two last year with an injury, but was definitely not injured the whole year.

I agree. That was the same comment I made watching him last year. There are bursts, but I think his future is on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously the same with his teammate Mike Hull (PSU verbal).

It is almost certain Hagan will commit to Ohio State, possibly within the next two weeks. "Ohio State is No. 1. I love everything about them," Hagan said. "I plan on making a decision where I want to go soon, probably before the end of this month. I?m going to visit Ohio State again. If I go up there and I?m sold on it again, then that?s where I want to be."

This is total speculation on my part, but I have a feeling the staff is thinking about this kid as a wide receiver. Just a hunch based on his reported speed in addition to the ho hum response from others to his film. RB07OSU you and others are probably seeing the same things the staff is, i.e. Hagan doesn't have "it" on the defense. If I recall correctly TG didn't really WOW anybody with his run support or defensive mentality in high school and look at which side of the ball he played in college. What do you guys think.

I don't know if this staff (or very many staffs) have made true wide receivers out of many Running Back/Safties.

Actually I was thinking just the opposite...I saw almost no lateral explosion or change of direction running the ball, so it worries me how fluid he is on defense. Many times a DB prospect won't have much film in coverage, but you can see their defensive potential in certain attributes on the offensive side. Hagan's future likely is on defense and since there wasn't much to go on for him on the defensive side of the ball, I hoped to see more pop on the offensive side.

Just a thought, with no basis other than that, but what about WR? I don't think the 230 he's listed at is accurate... I hear around 210 or less may be more likely... And I believe he's 6-2 at most, probably more realistically 6-1. So why not WR? He seems to catch the ball well in those highlights and from what I've been told... And we know he's got speed...

Like I said, just a thought...
