DB Jeremy Cash (transfer to Duke)

Rudock sets mark in victory - MiamiHerald.com

Plantation 27, South Plantation 13: In a game filled with big plays, it was Plantation's defense that provided the big second-half stops in its victory over cross-town rival South Plantation in earning the Plantation's Mayor's Trophy at the Plantation PAL.

More importantly, with the Class 6A playoff spots on the line, the victory gives the Colonels, 5-4 and 2-2 in District 10-6A, a shot at a playoff spot in Monday's three-way tiebreaker with South Plantation (4-4, 2-2) and Western, a 40-0 winner over Piper.

"We really don't have long to celebrate this,'' Colonels coach Steven Davis said. "We put ourselves in the tough position that we're in now in having to play that tiebreaker, but we made the defensive stops today that we were missing early in the season when we needed them late in the game.''

With Plantation clinging to a 20-13 lead, South Plantation made one more attempt to tie the game with 1:23 remaining when linebacker Jerome Harris made a big hit on South Plantation's Rashad Kelly, popping the ball up in the air. Safety Jeremy Cash took the air-born ball for the game's only takeaway and raced 30 yards to the end zone for the clinching score.

Coyne leads Western with last-minute drive

With Western's playoff hopes slipping away, quarterback Will Coyne orchestrated a dramatic rally in the final minutes. Coyne scrambled to his right and fired a 15-yard strike to Brandon Woodall in the corner of the end zone to lift the Wildcats past Plantation 7-6 in a Class 6A district tiebreaker. Western advanced to the playoffs as the district runner-up.

The Wildcats trailed 6-0 with 1:19 to play after Rhijante Randall raced for a 47-yard touchdown. Gavin Ricketts blocked the extra point and the Wildcats carried the momentum when Badger-Toombs returned the ensuing kickoff to midfield.

Derrick Badger-Toombs had two catches for 35 yards on the game-winning drive.

Chris Shevlin's extra point put the Wildcats ahead, and Andrew Harris' interception with 14 seconds left sealed the win.

Plantation cruised past South Plantation 21-0 to move on to the play- in game with Western. Jeremy Cash returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and had an interception on South Plantation's second play of offense. Randall followed with a 9-yard touchdown run to help the Colonels pull away. Henry Lambert's 55-yard touchdown reception from Imonni Carswell capped the scoring.

So to break the tie, Plantation played one quarter against South Plantation and then had to play another quarter against Western, who basically got a first quarter bye...

I know Miami only have about 12 to 15 offers to extend. If they miss on the on the top tier talent like it appears, what is Plan B? Last year they went away from the big names, so who is under the radar?

Well, I think they will end up getting some area commitments like Denzel Perryman (Coral Gables, Fla./Coral Gables) and maybe B.J. DuBose (Oakland Park, Fla./Northeast). One name to look out for could be wide receiver Juwan Caesar (Miami, Fla./Coral Park). If the next coach has strong ties to the area, which he should, then they could go after commits that have already given verbals to other schools like Plantation (Fla.) teammates Ryan Shazier and Jeremy Cash.

I think ASU is going to visit Cash within the next 2 weeks. I think he visited ASU for our Stanford game.

I think ASU is also trying to get some of Cash's buddies to sweeten the pot.

I'm not too excited because we rarely get anybody from Florida.

Cash isn't going anywhere other than OSU...already filed his paperwork.

So, both Scout and Rivals have him as a 3 star? I swear he was a 4 on both services at the start of recruiting. Did they downgrade him after he committed to OSU? Well, looks like we found our "diamond in the rough" for the class. Looks awesome to me.

Was a 4-star 5.8 rating for Rivals earlier in the process. I think his "uneventful" recruitment made for him being overlooked.

Cash actually started as a 3-star on Scout, got bumped and then bumped back down... I think it has more to do with getting dinged up these last couple years and therefore the recruiting services have seen less of him... he's a beast in my book...
