DB Jamario O'Neal (official thread)

Malcolm Jenkins has actually said when we go to the Nickel.... one of these will happen:

Chimdi Chekwa comes in at corner, Malcolm Jenkins slides to Safety and Anderson Russel becomes the Nickelback
Jamario O'Neal comes in as the Nickelback.

???

I read something to the effect that MJ goes to safety with Coleman. Russel slides to nickelback ("star"), and Washington and Chekwa become the corners. I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say. Russel slides to nickel ("star") and JamO comes in as a safety. That could be a possibility as well.

Is that not exactly what I said? Those were two different scenarios on two different lines. Either Chimdi comes in and all that happens, or Jamario comes in.

Hats off to JamO he was really aggresive out there today on special teams and when he got in on D. He knocked their best corner back out of the game on the kickoff coverage in the second qt. As much heat as he took from the fans last year I think he's grown as a player and adds great depth, expirence, and athletism to our secondary.

This certainly appeared to be true yesterday. I was one that had my reservations on him all last year but he played well on special teams and when he did get in on D.

There were a couple of moments yesterday when he reminded me of Jack Tatum.

JamO doesn't seem to be having any problems delivering the blow. Just ask the NW players he hit yesterday, just as soon as they come to.

Jamario had some big hits in the Illinois game. I like the way he has been hitting. Why hasn't he been seeing the field more? Is he struggling in coverage? I'm trying to figure out why such a highly touted recruit appears to have some play-making ability yet doesn't get the opportunities.
