DB Eugene Clifford (official thread)

IMO, with his newest transgression he will likely be relegated to enroll at a D-1AA school. I can't be certain though on his outcome because even our greatest Buckeyes (Holmes, T. Smith, Boone) have had some slips early on in their careers. But then again, most of our players that stayed on the team after their mistakes, didn't necessarily have a tainted past.

I just want to know why is he in a "tavern" at only 20 years of age? He should know that Tress doesn't take kindly to players and drinking situations, when their focus should be on both school and the team. No excuse for him being there in the first place. Doesn't look promising, the kid had all the intangibles to make a great safety.

I just don't understand what is going through some of these kid's heads. I mean, you're already on thin ice and he goes and does something like this. I hope he straightens his life out, but he's given no indications of any desire to do so. Good luck Eugene.

The Holy Grail is one block east of UC's main campus. It has a reputation for serving underage. I haven't been there in years because it's turned into a thug bar. They have live music, so I'm not sure if it's 18+ (hand stamps for booze). Too bad about Clifford, I'd heard great things about his ability. Sadly, this will add to the list of Cincinnati players whose off field transgressions ended thier OSU careers.

Well, his arrival is already being talked about on the UC boards. Whenever I hear the word "tavern", I automatically think of a low rent bar with a specialty of serving booze. Why couldn't he had just went to Long Street, or Krome or something to that avail? This surely does suck, but is a blessing for another player to step up. Maybe this could be the light for Jam-O to show his worth?

Keep your heads up guys, look how much talent we have in our backfield: Jenkins, Washington, Coleman, Jam-O, Chekwa, Gant, Scott, Amos, Russell, Patterson, Evege, Pentello, etc.

If Im not mistaken, I believe they still have Freddie Lenix?

If he stays D1A, maybe even Kent State or Ohio U? I know it isn't as luxurious, but its something in Ohio and still a BCS school.

Does this open up a schollie for Emilien or another DB in 09?
freddie lenix never qualified at uc. And i don't see uc letting gene come there either. Ironically out of all the colerain players from the state championship team the only ones that have been succesful went to uc. They have bryd who has ran into trouble twice (suspended for the opener this year and the year before) goodman, and revels and those three will all be starters for uc this year. Mister simpson left scum tried to transfer to uc and couldn't make the grades, cobrani mixon also left scum and is now at kent state and now clifford. Hopefully connor smith and tyler moeller can crack the depth chart this fall. Sad to see this happen but unfortunately both sides need to go their seperate ways. I see D-AA for gene imo.:io::oh:
