I've just gotta give my opinion of where I think Clifford should be playing most of the time in his Buckeye career:

Ohio Stadium

Welcome to the Buckeyes!!

I saw Eugene in a scrimmage against Fairmont, and he looked like a stud at WR-I don't care where he plays, he will be good at any position the staff places him at. Congrats on making the right choice and welcome to the Buckeye family.

Born to be a Buckeye
Recruit says OSU always top priority
BY TOM GROESCHEN | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Eugene Clifford grew up playing for the Little Red Machine football team in Roselawn. Thursday, Clifford declared his allegiance to the top college football machine in America.

Clifford, a Colerain senior safety rated as the state's No. 1 prospect by Rivals.com, announced he will attend Ohio State beginning in fall 2007. Clifford is ranked the No. 31 senior in America by Rivals.com and had been the subject of a recruiting war that saw Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State as finalists.

"I grew up a Buckeye fan and always wanted to go there," Clifford said. "They've always been my top priority."

Ohio State is ranked No. 1 this season.

Clifford grew up in the Roselawn area, where he helped lead his Little Red Machine team to a Pee Wee league Super Bowl title. Clifford moved to Colerain Township in sixth grade.

Clifford, 6 feet 2 and 190 pounds, has been clocked at 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He was a starter as a sophomore on Colerain's Division I state title team in 2004. As a junior, the hard-hitting Clifford had six interceptions and 147 tackles and was second-team all-state.

This year, Clifford has played free safety, wide receiver and running back, and has taken a few snaps at quarterback. He also returns kickoffs and punts.

"Eugene is certainly one of the finest players we've ever had at Colerain," Colerain coach Kerry Coombs said. "He's such a great athlete; he can do so many things."

Clifford, a quiet sort, said the recruiting calls and text messages started to wear on him.

"It's been frustrating sometimes, but it can be fun to get to talk to all the coaches," Clifford said.

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel cannot comment on prospective recruits until the signing date in February 2007. Coombs said Tressel confirmed to him that Clifford did make an oral commitment to the Buckeyes.

Clifford has helped Colerain to a 4-0 record and rankings of No. 23 nationally (USA Today), No. 3 in Ohio (Associated Press) and tied for No. 1 (with St. Xavier) in the Enquirer Division I area coaches' poll.
