DB Eugene Clifford (official thread)

IMHO, Wright should be in with that group...at least in the top 10. I have watched some film on him and he just looks the part on the field of one of those tough, play-making Miami safetys like Sean Taylor, Kenny Phillips and Brandon Meriweather. I think Torrence ends up on the other side of the ball, which would leave Wright and Clifford as a heck of an impact class at safety, should Major end up in Columbus.
Lets not forget about Oliver. He will be an impact safety.

Not forgetting Oliver at all...and for all we know Wright could grow into a Cie Grant sized LB (he is already 6-1 205). I just used the example of Clifford and Wright because I think Clifford is better suited for the field-type safety spot (like Salley and Mitchell before him) and Wright (and/or Oliver) is better suited for the run-support, zone coverage safety spot (like a Will Allen or Donte Whitner).

I think we just slide Torrence over to CB.

Ok thanks for clearing that up Wad. I am not good at determing who would play which safety spot. I am just pumped to have two great safety commits. I think Torrence is either a CB or WR. Either way I love the way this class is shaping up. Very solid.

Where's Clifford?

With La Salle's Ben Martin chosen today to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl all-star football game, the natural question is: Why not Colerain's Eugene Clifford, who is either above or right behind Martin on most national recruiting lists?

Well, seems the All-American Bowl folks might have misplaced Clifford's application. That is the word from Colerain coach Kerry Coombs, who is trying to get things rectified.

So, don't rule out Clifford just yet. His ex-teammate, Ohio State frosh OL Connor Smith, was in the game last year.

Isn't the Army All-American Bowl run by scout.com? No way they'd leave one of their 5 star prospects out.

Jam O was left off the AA roster even though he was ranked in the top 20 in the country. He only got to play as a late addition because someone else got hurt and he was the alternate.

Wow, didn't know that. I heard a 3 star prospect(according to both scout and rivals) got selected and guess what school he's going to, Notre Dame.

Aaron Nagel Scout Profile

True story. 3*, NR LB from Illinois. Going to ND. Invited on Sept 29 to the AA game.

A little bias? Me thinks so. That ones a stretch any way you look at that one. Look at that offer sheet!

Derrick Williams was the player who was hurt....

Jamo did alright in that game...caused a fumble on a Johnathan Stewart run...

did much better than Adam Myers-White...boy he stunk it up...

...or, as we referred to him in SWO, Adam Myers-Hype.
He played on a terrible Hamilton team and he should have stood out...well, he didn't. Unless you call quitting as 'standing out'. :(
