BUFFALO RELEASES FOX
Despite having the best training camp of his NFL career, Dustin Fox was released by the Buffalo Bills on Friday. Generally speaking, when a team informs a player a day earlier than they need to that he's being cut, the team is doing the player a favor because the other 31 teams in the league are immediately aware of who's available.
That's the kind of classy move Fox, a GlenOak and Ohio State graduate, has been accustomed to in Buffalo. It allowed other teams to shape their rosters based on knowing who's already been released.
It will be surprising if Fox isn't picked up by another team soon.
FOX HAS WORKOUT
Former Ohio State defensive back Dustin Fox got a call from the Browns last week, and Cleveland had the GlenOak graduate in to work out Saturday morning. The Browns are light at safety.
Why work out Fox and not Doss? Money is an issue there, and Fox is still eligible to be put on the practice squad. Doss, because of his experience, can't be placed on the practice squad.

Sunday Special: Another shot for Fox

Dustin Fox doesn't need breaks from football. He just had a long, rather worrysome hiatus.
On Saturday afternoon, he took a few hours to enjoy watching his Ohio State Buckeyes play Illinois on the television at a Buffalo-area restaurant.
Fox was signed to the Bills practice squad last week. It isn't base salary money for an active player with Fox's two years of experience, but it isn't bad money, either.
And it beats the alternative: Working out and wondering if your career is over.
"Absolutely," Fox said. "That thought was in my mind the whole time. I worked out every day, but I thought about what am I going to do if no one calls.
"I started making contacts and networking in the business world to get ready for my next move. Fortunately, the opportunity came up again."

Two weeks ago, Dustin Fox was home in Plain Township staying in shape.
Sunday, he'll be on the road with the Buffalo Bills and likely active for their game at Kansas City.
The Bills elevated Fox from their practice squad Thursday and signed him to a one-year deal. Fox said he expects to back up McKinley graduate Reggie Corner at cornerback and at nickel back. Corner is a rookie with Buffalo.
"It's one in a million to have two guys who played high school football next to each other in the NFL on the same team, next to each other on the depth chart," Fox said.
Third string quarterback Gibran Hamdan and DB Dustin Fox were also signed to new deals.
COMPETING AGAINST FOX
During OTAs, there were times when Corner and GlenOak graduate Dustin Fox would travel to work together. Fox is competing for a safety position, but he?s also been versatile and worked at cornerback. ?He?s a great athlete,? Corner said.
About those drives?
?Sometimes he drives fast,? Corner said, ?but he?s a presentable driver.?
