Crushing.... Just crushing. I personally thought his improvement on the field from last year was night and day in a good way. CB as a man from his Freshman season to today is remarkable. He is an example of a kid who drank the Kool-Aid. Speedy recovery CB

No doubt a huge loss from the talent perspective, but I am more concerned about losing his leadership on the field. Also, you have to feel for the kid. From all accounts he busts his ass day in and day out and for his college career to end like this is just tragic.

Depending on the severity, he may be able to make a full recovery before the bowl game. My father broke his ankle right when he turned 50. He fully healed in about 3.5 months.

The big difference between my dad and CB, is that the latter is about 30 years younger. CB will get some of the best treatment and rehab in the world. That can also help expedite the healing process.

I hope they can get him in for at least a bowl game. He deserves the exposure before he hits the NFL circuit. Hate to see this happen to a senior in the 5th game. Last week, and he still had a medical redshirt. Makes it harder to get to the NFL.

According to the NCAA Manual, Ohio State senior Christian Bryant, who broke his ankle on Saturday night, would not be eligible for a medical redshirt.Marvin Fong, The Plain Dealer

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State fans are looking for a way to see Christian Bryant on the field again for the Buckeyes, and asking if he can gain a medical redshirt for this season.

The rules say no.

Bylaw 14.2.4 in the NCAA Manual deals with the terms of a hardship waiver for medical reasons and sets out the guidelines.

One rule is that the injury that knocks out the player for the rest of the season, as Bryant's broken left ankle suffered in the final 30 seconds against Wisconsin on Saturday night should do, takes place in the first half of the season. That was game five for the Buckeyes, so Bryant qualifies there.

He doesn't fit the other criteria, though.

A player must have played in no more than 30 percent of a season in order to be eligible for a medical redshirt. In football, bowl games don't count in the calculation, though a conference championship game does. That means the football season has 13 games, and by playing in five of them, Bryant has participated in 38 percent of the season.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For a broken ankle, the injury sustained by Ohio State safety Christian Bryant at the end of the Buckeyes’ 31-24 win over Wisconsin on Saturday, the average recovery period is roughly three months.

“That recovery time is for the average person, I just want to throw out there,” Bryant’s father, Ronnie, told Cleveland.com in a phone interview Monday afternoon. “Christian isn’t average. He’s not average an average person mentally, physically or spiritually.”

Bryant, average? No way. That was apparent from the moment Urban Meyer delivered the news to the media that Ohio State had lost perhaps its most influential captain for the remainder of the year.

Clearly emotional, Meyer slammed his fist on the podium during his postgame interview in disbelief when it finally sunk in that Bryant, a former Glenville star, had suffered the injury.

“We took a shot to our team with the loss of Christian Bryant,” Meyer said during his weekly press conference Monday. “I can't say enough good things about Christian Bryant and what he means. I'm hoping we can bring him with us to Northwestern – he's an extremely valuable member of this team.”

This sucks all the way around. His senior season gone, and a big hole in the secondary. His mates are just going to have to step up because the only thing that will make him feel worse about it is if they fail without him.
