Roth and it's not even close. The first several VH albums are classics. The Van Hagar albums are just good to OK. Hagar's lyrics usually sound like they came from Hallmark cards. (Why Can't This Be Love, Don't Tell Me What Love Can do, How Will I know When it's Love, Can't Stop Loving You, Love Walks In...)

Tho I am a big fan of Cabo Wabo. And I don't mind SH... Just not in VH.

Either way, I'd party with both of them.

Yes, Diver Down was the beginning of the end. Good album but you could tell they were going for more radio play. 1984 was a monster, one of the best albums of all time, but when I first heard Jump my heart sank because I knew the VH that I used to know was gone forever.
