Dallas Cowboys (Official Thread)

Then a real team (AZ) came to town and the Cowboys lost. They feel like a one and done team to me in the playoffs, like they've been every playoff berth since their last SB.

They might win the first game at home, but that's it. Frankly, I'll be surprised if they even do that since the opponent will be either Arizona or the Rams.

They're 5-0 in a bad division and 6-5 outside of it - a slightly above average team.
As an outsider, what seems to have been missing over the last 2.5 decades is a quality HC. Yes, they had Parcells for a few years, but that was late-career Parcells who just wasn't the same guy he was in New York or New England.

They were blessed with a 1-2 punch of Landry and Jimmy Johnson. Those guys won and won a lot. They were both at the top of the heap amongst NFL coaches. Yes, Switzer won a SB, but he took over a juggernaut. As the core of their great 90s teams aged, his deficiencies we're exposed. What followed him, Parcells aside, was a pile of mediocrity. They stuck with Garrett for waaaaay too long. McCarthy is a mediocre coach. He had a top-10 all time QB in Aaron Rodgers in his prime and could only manage to get to one SB? That's criminal.

The only head coaches they hire are people willing to accept Jerry and Stephen playing fantasy football GM and Director of Player Personnel. Parcells has been the only exception since Jimmy, and it just so happened to be the same time Jerry was trying to get voters to pay half the cost of his new stadium.

Wade Phillips was desperate for another HC gig, as was McCarthy. Garrett was Jerry's pet project and he waited 10 years for JG to make him look like a genius. As long as they continue to operate that way the team will have a ceiling. Strong coaches who want to run the show aren't going to coach Jerry's Cowboys.

And that's a HUGE indictment on Jerry. Jason Garrett will never sniff another HC job, yet Jerry pissed away 9.5 years on him.

Ol' Jerry got mad when Cooper missed two games in succession (both losses) because he's unvaccinated. Called Amari a "me guy" and threw him under the bus. So what do they do? They pretty much give him away for nothing. Such a stupidly run franchise.

Report: Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Paid Millions to Woman Who Filed Paternity Suit

In early March, 25-year-old Alexandra Davis filed a paternity lawsuit against Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, claiming that Jones is her biological father and alleging that he paid her mother hundreds of thousands of dollars in 1996 to keep the information confidential.

Earlier this week, Jones and his legal team requested a dismissal of the civil suit after alleging that Davis attempted to extort him for money prior to filing the lawsuit.

Now, in a new report from ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. released Thursday, it was revealed that Jones has paid nearly $3 million to Davis, which included her full college tuition to SMU and a $70,000 Range Rover that Jones purchased on the plaintiff’s 16th birthday.

The payment information from Jones was provided to Van Natta Jr. by Little Rock lawyer Don Jack, who says that he made regular payments on Jones’s behalf to Davis and her mother, Cynthia Spencer Davis, who Jones met in 1995 when she was a ticket counter agent for American Airlines in Arkansas.

Jack told ESPN that he negotiated an agreement on Jones’ behalf in 1995 with Spencer Davis, in which she was paid $375,000 and provided with monthly child support payments that eventually totaled over $2 million.

“On numerous occasions I have made payments on behalf of Mr. Jones to Cindy and Alex Davis,” Jack told ESPN.

Alex Davis has asked the court to revoke the agreement struck by her mother in the mid-’90s and for Jones to be declared her father. Davis’s lawyer Andrew Bergman said that his client simply wants Jones’s last name on her birth certificate.

Why would she now want Jones as the last name on her birth certificate?

Jerry Jones (her biological father) is worth $10B and is 79 years old; she wants to become a "legitimate" heir (i.e. 4th child) to his fortune, etc.

Sources: Police seek to speak with Dallas Cowboys' Kelvin Joseph in connection to fatal shooting
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...wboys-kelvin-joseph-connection-fatal-shooting
Police want to speak with Dallas Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph in connection with a shooting death last month in the Lower Greenville section of Dallas, sources said Thursday.

Cameron Ray, who was 20, was fatally shot after a March 18 altercation with a group of individuals that appeared to include Joseph, a second-round pick of the Cowboys last year. In video footage obtained by KDFW-TV in Dallas, one of those involved in the altercation was wearing a YKDV necklace. Joseph goes by the rap name "YKDV Bossman Fat."

More footage goes on to show shots coming from an SUV as Ray and his friends walked to their vehicle after the altercation.

The Cowboys did not have a comment. However, sources said the team has talked with Joseph and is encouraging him to speak with police to discuss what he knows about the situation.

Detective Tonya McDaniel told KDFW that Ray and three friends were in Dallas for a weekend and that they were not responsible for the incident that preceded the shooting. Police have been working to identify the group seen in the surveillance video, including the man wearing the YKDV necklace.

Joseph started his college career at LSU before playing one season at Kentucky.

Joseph appeared in 10 games and made two starts as a rookie, and was credited with 13 tackles and two pass deflections.
