South Beach has it's own gravity. Suck at football but the scenery and nightlife is very hard to beat

I’d be hard pressed to think of a program where you’ll get more pass protection experience than tOSU. If you want to play at the next level… no better way to audition than in a pass happy program.
Note: I know that Woody just rolled over. There’s a part of me that is A-OK with that.

I do struggle to understand why OSU is missing on these premier tackles. I understand they are few and far to come by. It just seems like every cycle we have three or four we circle as must gets and they go to Bama. The line is the difference maker when it comes to championships. We need a few this class with all of the talent we are bringing in.

Too soon old, too late smart
In answer to the above, Stud was probably the reason. Don't believe he had the best national rep, and now, the elite OL's are waiting to see how the 'new guy' performs at tOSU. Not certain that the reputations of the coaching skills of the West coast schools permeate East coast schools. Given the disparity of population/# of colleges east of the Mississippi, can believe it. Not entirely certain that's the reason, but it provides a working theory.....

I think that is reasonable. Wait and see, that is. It will be interesting to see how the recruiting trajectory changes over the next two years. I suspect that it will be positive, but I don’t know that either will match what we saw with Hartline.

Recruiting is a relationships business. And many of these relationships take multiple years to get comfortable, and we're expecting Frye to do it in a matter of months. I believe I read that Hartline has been in contact with Inniss or Tate since they were in 8th grade! That's why their so cool with him and also Bailey(who's originally from Broward Co. in SoFL and has a big connection down there). I think this is also why you're seeing the defensive side of the ball come along slowly, new targets getting comfortable with coaches at new locations, or new coaches establishing their new relationships. A guy like Walton has spent a chunk of time in the NFL, it's going to take time for him to land DBs who he's never spoken to. That can also be applied to why OSU doesn't have an LB committed either, Knowles is starting over and getting to know kids at his new job. And also Frye wasn't recruiting close to the talent that would go to OSU while at UCLA, so he's starting from scratch, while the coaches he's going up against have none some of these kids since middle school. I know many thought that the OL recruiting would be solved the minute Stud was shown the door and Frye came in, but I don't believe we'll start seeing numerous 5star OTs consider OSU until they see what we do on the field, and Frye has time to really get to know them. And that might not be until '24 and honestly '25. I think it'd be a homerun if Frye were even to land his plan b guys, and the fact that we're even still in it for Alinen is a major plus(peer recruiting from Montgomery and Padilla through social media is also helping as well).

I would agree with the timing perspective you mention. With the complete overhaul that was done on the Defense I do expect slower results. The O Line Recruiting in my opinion is a bit different. Kevin Wilson who is a great assistant and game planner. Where is recruiting production? I would have hoped/expected that he would have had some relationships with the Tackles that he and Ryan Day could help close out keep while we get a new O Line Coach. Maybe that is asking too much, obviously the ridiculous results on the other parts of the team create unrealistic expectations. Alabama is the standard still unfortunately so when you see those kind of results, I want to see the same for THE Buckeyes. Hope we can close this one out!

I don't think Wilson had as much affect on OL recruiting as some believe. From reading some quotes from recruits, they mainly interacted with Stud. I think Wilson assisted, but Stud was the main recruiter. And the guys Stud was in on, had little knowledge or interaction with Frye, so he had to start almost from square one

Great point above re: the 3 Ohio OL we already have on board, i have to remind myself we've got 3 really tough dudes to be excited about already in the golf. Great year to have a great OL class right in our back yard, it allowed us to narrow in on the remaining 1-2 OL with top tier guys. Alinen is admittedly my favorite OL left that is realistic, so fingers crossed.
