I don't really like spooky [Mark May], as I don't believe in ghosts or any of that nonsense.

But that pen pals story is magnificent.
Super creepy. I want it to be a movie.

Just sucks that "maps" is a broken link.

"Maps" seems to be working for me now, although I was having trouble with it last night myself. You can also go to "Boxes," the third part, and there should be a link at the bottom of the story to go to Maps.

I heard the author expanded the story into a novel, and I've also heard there have been people that want to adapt it into a movie.

This time of year always reminds me of the time I was asked to play the flute for a little old lady's funeral back in college. It was a crisp fall day, not long after Halloween. After the service, I was walking home and stopped respectfully as the hearse passed, followed by the family's car... with an arm hanging out of the trunk.

The open ending is part of it's brilliance. Not knowing what happened is what makes it scary. It comes off as abandoned blog rather than a neatly packaged tale.
