ALGIERS, La. – A coyote made for a nervous morning, after the animal showed
up on the playground of an Algiers school, but eluded capture after animal control
officials tried to capture the animal.

Around 8:45 a.m., a teacher at St. Andrew the Apostle reported seeing the animal
outside in the preschool playground area, said secretary Susan Fisher, though she
added the children were already inside the school because classes had started.
The SPCA was called, she said, but officials were unable to come until 10:45 a.m.
because of a meeting.

The New Orleans Police Department was called and officers watched over the animal,
Fisher said, until SCPA officials were able to come to the school. The coyote, which
Fisher described as the size of a German shepherd, but skinny, sat and leaned against
the building, while school administrators waited for the SCPA. Children inside a nearby
classroom were moved as a precaution, she said.

When the coyote was approached by an SPCA official, the animal snarled and bolted
from the playground, she said.

SPCA officials and NOPD officers patrolled the immediate area, unable to locate the animal,
she said. The school received reports around 1:30 p.m. that the coyote was once again
near the school grounds, but Fisher said she hadn’t seen the animal.

They must have forgot their guns but then we all know anyone can walk right up to a wild coyote.
 Man, worse than you know. I just found some actual photos and a story on line. If the damn SPCA chick would have moved her ass, the lazy cop could have solved this.

The Columbus Dispatch : 3 coyotes, 1 dog found dead near Madison County creek
LONDON, Ohio -- A couple fishing in Deer Creek in eastern Madison County found what they thought were several dead dogs wrapped in plastic Thursday night.
It turns out the animals were three dead coyotes that had been skinned and one older dog that appears to have died from natural causes, said Madison County Chief Deputy Sheriff Bob Henry.
He said the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Madison County dog warden are investigating. Henry said he doesn't believe killing and skinning the coyotes was a crime, but that it is most certainly is a case of illegal dumping and littering.

...

gator you live on algiers point? thats the 15th ward right?

"F"ing Coyote attacked my parents dog a few weeks ago... She made progress for two days, took a turn for the worse in the afternoon, and was dead twenty min. later...

This occured in Columbus, near OSU's golf course. She was old for her breed (this fall would have been her 15th birthday), going blind, loss of hearing, etc... however it doesn't change my new dislike of Coyote's...

In most places if a coyote is on your property you can kill it. They are extremely bold and will sense an older or weak animal. I wouldn't trust one any where near a small child. Around here(New Mexico) if your small dog goes missing or your cat, you can guess what happened.

According to this, the small children of New Mexico might have attacked them?

Your average neighborhood dog doesn't eat other dogs! :chompy:

only because there are typically people around to stop the fight once its begun. there are plenty of reports of domesticated dogs killing cats, dogs and humans. i suspect considerably more than there are of coyotes doing the same.

where i grew up we had atleast 1 coyote den within a half mile from our house. i spent alot of time in the area. almost literally ran into him once. out walking a deer trail and as i rounded a rock ledge... hello! 10 yrds away face to face, believe i was around 14 at the time. once i got past the initial "holy shit! coyote", he was about as intimidating as the one by the school pictured above. though im pretty sure he nabbed 2 of our cats. i found 3 cat skeletons just outside his den. could be wrong, but im fairly confident he never fucked with our doberman.

in fact the coyote never messed with any members of my family with the exception of the cats. though in the time frame the coyote was around my sister was attacked twice by domesticated dogs on our property.

when i go out into the woods i always do so armed. not because of bears or wolves or coyotes or bobcats. i carry a gun because of dogs out wilding. its been my experience that domesticated dogs are considerably more dangerous than any wild animal.
