OK, if Cal losing one game to Texas Tech proves them as a dud, I think that argument can eliminate the B10 or pretty much any other conference. Michigan lost to Notre Dame. Dud. Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern all lost to "sorry-ass" Pac10 teams. Duds.

The last 3 years, we've only had two non-conference opponent stay within 10 points of us (beat Auburn by 7 and lost to Kansas State in 2002), including 3 BCS bowl games.

We beat...
Colorado by 37
Notre Dame by 31
Iowa by 21
Auburn by 23
Notre Dame by 31
Michigan by 14
VaTech by 11
Notre Dame by 31
Oklahoma by 36

Contrast that with some close Pac10 games:
Lost to Wazzu by 3
Beat Cal by 2
Lost to Cal by 3
Beat Stanford by 3
Beat Cal by 6
Beat Oregon State by 8
Beat UCLA by 5

No, I don't feel bad about sidetracking this thread because it is just round 34 for Mili and Chief
shut up and rip ND

We beat...
Colorado by 37
Notre Dame by 31 (ND??? Come on!!! :biggrin: )
Iowa by 21 (see my dismantling in the bowl games comment)
Auburn by 23
Notre Dame by 31 (Again....)
Michigan by 14 (Another bowl game, but the Bucks beat them by 16 :wink2: )
VaTech by 11
Notre Dame by 31 (deja vu....)
Oklahoma by 36 (Ditto on the bowl games)

Let me say it again because I don't want you to take this the wrong way...

USC has been the most dominating team for the last two years. Also, they had a great year in 2002 (maybe the 2nd best team :tongue2: ), so I'm not knocking your Trojans. I'm knocking on the Pac 10. I don't believe it's up to par with the Big 10, SEC, ACC, or even the Big 12 as a whole. If you disagree, please give me some non-USC info.

ACC - Miami, FSU, VT are on the national scene on a yearly basis
Big 10 - Bucks, scUM, Iowa, Wisky all played around in the top 10 recently.
Big 12 - Texas and Oklahoma (granted, the Big 12 seems over-rated, but there are a least two contenders).
SEC - Tenn., Florida, LSU, Auburn all make noise.
Pac 10 - Other than USC, what kind of noise has the rest of the conference made recently? Cal was supposed to be a BCS school last year! Come on....please.

Oh yeah, as far as ND goes.........ND sucks!

USC's winning score margin doesnt really say too much of the games. Your coach along with other coachs of top 10 teams throughout the year knew they would need to run the scores up so they could be ranked higher since the BCS had some "tweaks".

I did a comparison of the SEC and Pac-10 a few months ago, but the pics I used aren't there anymore. If I have time tomorrow, I'll look for a copy.

So we only run up the score on non-con games?

Here's an article about Weis and ND:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=2046566

Weis has established a no-whining policy at the school – about the schedule, about academic requirements, about any of the popular theories as to why the Irish have struggled to succeed in modern times.

The pac10 is not as weak as people think. However it definitely doesn't compare to the Big10 or SEC in my homerish opinions.

Auburn - USC
Tenn - Cal
LSU - ASU
UF - UCLA
Georgia - Oregon State

The weak portions of the conferences might be stronger in the pac10, but there is no comparison among the top teams. Yay for cal's recent success against nobody good. Not saying they are as bad as their bowl performance, but they played a cakewalk schedule and surprise they lost against their first good team. I know there are excuses but teh point is that there are not other legit contenders in the Pac10.

USC would have a much harder time playing the top teams in the big10 or sec. Note I didn't say they'd always lose to them, I said it would be harder.

ND 2004
BYU
Michigan------> keep
Michigan St------> keep
Washington------> Iowa
Purdue------> keep
Stanford------> Northwestern
Navy------> Penn State
Boston College------> keep
Tennessee -------->tOSU
Pitt------> Wisconsin
USC------> keep

Actually, keep the 3 B10 teams already on your schedule, keep USC and BC as Rivalry games, fill in your appropriate B10 teams....

You sure your original schedule is more difficult Chief? I understand that teams go through trends of success, but from top to bottom on a year in/year out basis, I'd say that second schedule is much rougher. Granted, I gave you the rough B10 rotation which could include Minny, Illinois, or Indiana, but I think you can see my point here.

Not one BIG 10 team had a tougher schedule than ND last year ! NOT ONE! Actually the average BIG10 schedule was in the 30's. Funny you guys played such a pathetic OOC for so long you actually had a thread bragging that you were finally playing teams like Miami and such....

27 Yeah the SEC is tough but yet again ND did beat big bad TENN. Cowherd hates ND so hey....

The pussy thing was probably a little on the strong side I should have said haha Bobby Brady's girlfriend..............
