you cant just pick the 3 teams ND actually plays and say "wow what a tough schedule". cowherd did it right. he listed them all in order, and gave props to USC, Mich, and Tenn. but USC and Tenn are at home...and we all know that Mich has the quietest 100,000+ stadium in the country. other then that its a schedule built on big names with bad teams.

MSU - big name because of the basketball program....bad football team
Purdue - see above
Washington - 1-10 last year
BYU- gimme a break
Pitt - bad team....dont give me that BCS bullshit either. somebody had to win the automatic bid. that doesnt mean they earned it
finish it up with syracuse, stanford, and navy. we could field a squad of BP members and beat these teams.

also, its a waste of time comparing the schedule to OSU. OSU fans dont sit on their golden chairs saying 'oh look at our tough schedule, were so awesome we play a hard schedule.'

Not our fault teams are willing to come here and not make us go to their place. Plus if you had 100,000+ fans at your stadium wouldn't you try and use that to your advantage? And yeah, we are doing home and aways with Texas, USC, Miami, VT.

Yeah I think its nationally known that Notre Dame hides behind its schedule. Seriously if you ever wanna get to another BCS bowl not only do you have to start off your season with easier teams to get a groove going, but you guys also need alot of help in the recruiting area. ALOT.You guys are just not landing any impact players. If you just signed ONE player it'd help show people that ND is once again a program where you wanna be.

I also think that USC's toughest opponent was by far Virginia Tech. I went to that game in Washington D.C. all's I have to say is that if it wasn't for the pass interference Virginia Tech might have pulled the upset. The way the game was going I thought Va Tech blew the game more than USC winning it. I give USC huge credit in playing infront of 90,000 hokie fans, and then coming back. In saying that I'd definatly say USC's toughest opponent was by far Va Tech.

Yeah but you cant control that ....

Power - You obviously have not been following recruiting..

7 As I said before it's about time....

As far as comparing scheules are any of you actually comparing Iowa, Texas or Michigan to USC....

USC will be 3 time champs and Iowa will not be top 10 by years end.

I disagree. Our toughest opposition the last couple years have been Pac10 teams

First of all, this statement isn't saying much. Who are you referring to? Cal? They proved they were a serious dud last year, didn't they?

Don't get me wrong, I definitely think USC deserves all the hype they are receiving. However, this is based on the dismantling of their recent bowl opponents, not their domination of a sorry-ass conference.

As far as the ND schedule goes, we had this exact argument in a thread a few weeks ago. I still say ND plays a tough schedule, but not "out-of-this-world" tough. As a matter of a fact, I would say that tOSU's is in the same ballpark.

If I remember correctly, someone won a great post award for some statistical analysis on this subject.

I compared Texas to USC, and Texas is not far behind...in fact, they are #2/#3 in many pre-season polls. As for "USC will be 3 time champs and Iowa will not be top 10 by years end", you have a magic crystal ball or what?

OK, if Cal losing one game to Texas Tech proves them as a dud, I think that argument can eliminate the B10 or pretty much any other conference. Michigan lost to Notre Dame. Dud. Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern all lost to "sorry-ass" Pac10 teams. Duds.

The last 3 years, we've only had two non-conference opponent stay within 10 points of us (beat Auburn by 7 and lost to Kansas State in 2002), including 3 BCS bowl games.

We beat...
Colorado by 37
Notre Dame by 31
Iowa by 21
Auburn by 23
Notre Dame by 31
Michigan by 14
VaTech by 11
Notre Dame by 31
Oklahoma by 36

Contrast that with some close Pac10 games:
Lost to Wazzu by 3
Beat Cal by 2
Lost to Cal by 3
Beat Stanford by 3
Beat Cal by 6
Beat Oregon State by 8
Beat UCLA by 5

No, I don't feel bad about sidetracking this thread because it is just round 34 for Mili and Chief

Maybe that quote from a ND fan sums up ND all together. Lack of Confidence is obviously a crucial part that they lack, for he is quickly to point out that another team will be the Champ and has no hope atall for his own beloved team. Maybe hes starting to see the light that the "Golden Domers" just dont have the power that they once had insulated their squad with.
