Are any of you guys fans of the country and/or western music?
In word, no.

I went to a Garth Brooks concert once...because I was dating a girl who liked him, she had a great ass, and I knew I would get "rewarded" afterwards. Everything went as planned: I couldn't get into the music, she loved it, and I got rewarded afterwards. :biggrin2:

I get a kick out of the guys who say they don't really like country music then mention how a particular country band rocks or kicks ass. Hello! Face it, you like country music.

We have jamboree in the hills about 10 minutes from where I live. Every year I have to listen to that crap for a whole weekend and put up with the 50 year old fat redneck women running around in biknis. Scars me for life.
I was there two years ago and ther was a lot of 20 year old girls I must have missed all the ones your talking about:biggrin:

Jamboree in the hills is the only way to go if you like country music and LIKE to drink, but you better like to drink.

Amen to that, drowns out the sound of the music :)

there are plenty of people that like cross canadian ragweed that don't like country music. Its almost like saying that you like the Allman Brothers or Lynyrd Skynyrd but dont like country(granted LS and AB have waaaaay more tallent than ccr but i could say that about almost anyone) Yeah ccr is a little more country than those examples but they are far from your typicle nashville sound.

I respect the country artists who write their own stuff. Those that just do a version of a song that song jackass in Nashville writes......negative.

Skynyrd is not country, southern rock and country are very different. Or at least today's country.

that was my point and the reason that someone can say they are a ccr fan and not be a fan of country music. Oh and there was a point in time when country music had a real element of rock to it, bands like ccr and reckless kelly, and even shooter jennings are bringing that back(or attmepting to anyway)

Yeah I was actually agreeing with you, although now that I read what I typed, it did sound like an argument. Country has zero depth now. Everything sounds exactly the same. When country did have a rock element in it, it was actually fairly decent.

yep it really is pretty bad, there seem to be three types of music in nashville Female, Metrosexaul fake cowboy, and boyband. Just like any other type of music though, if you dig around and look hard enough there are some very talented and good singer/songwritters and performers out there. its tough to find them on cmt though

I'll tell you one thing, George Strait doesn't fall into any of those categories and that's why he's THE MAN!!!!

I have been to Jamboree in the hills and I had a good time... The beer washed the sound out and I'll never go to another country concert again. Alot of hot chicks was there and they was DRUNK. I would rather go to Woodstock or any metal venue to mosh. Anyone ever been to Legend Vally? Now it's called Buckeye Lake.

I went down to southern Ohio last night to party with an old friend of mine, and we had an absolute blast down near Jackson. Anyways, I've never been a big fan of Country music.. growing up I always did like the 'classics' but never could get into any of the newer music.

There is a station down there called Big Buck Country, 101.5 - last night they we're bringing straight fire! We were listening around 3am and heard George Strait, Tom T Hall, Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam, Johnny Cash, Dueling Banjos & more I can't remember. Awesome music selection on that station - they mix in some new country it seems, but mostly classics.

They're on Tune-In Radio & would assume they'd be on iHeart for anyone interested in some good, real Country Music. None of that Girth Brooks crap.
